Backstreet Boys Score Web Hit
Source: Worldpop

The most recent Backstreet Boys hit hasn't been in record stores but on the Internet. Millions of fans have logged on to www.backstreetproject.com to watch the group's animated cyber characters battle to save the world. According to the creators of the site, Stan Lee Media, the weekly, animated series has had over 40 million hits already. The idea for the series came from the band's Nick Carter, himself a massive comic book fan, who discussed the idea of a cartoon version of fictional BSB adventures. Lee, the man behind such famous cartoon characters as The Incredible Hulk, Spiderman and The X-Men, produced a BSB comic book back in February that was so popular he immediately began work on an Internet version. The launch on 27 August of the webisodes, featuring the boys as Cyber Crusaders, has proved the boys can be even more popular on the net than on record.
