Noriko became a popular idol singer in the mid to late 80's. She went mainstream on the music scene with her first singles, then her first CD, Fantasia, in January of 1987. Her popularity as a singer soared during the next couple of years. Her listeners have an ongoing fan-club called Noriko Sakai Oendan. Noriko spent her early pop idol years using the nickname Nori-P.
Her popularity was renewed in the early 90's when she began starring in roles on various evening television dramas. Noriko's career is still moving forward today, as she has recently released a brand new album, and even more recently, a collection of some of her more recent singles hits (which brings the album count to... 26.. no..27.. I'm not sure...) :)   Noriko's style is much different from her pop idol years. She's grown out of many phases and has also distanced herself from the old "Nori-P". Change is always good, if you ask me. I love Nori's music and hope she keeps it coming.
