NINA'S GIRLIE CHAT PAGE

A big BISMARCKS thank you to all those girlies who emailed me in response to the inaugural page.

Those of you following the saga of my problem with High Stage Short Dress Syndrome (HSSDS) might be interested to read a reply from a girlie friend in Bristol - name omitted to protect the innocent...

Dear Nina,

Well, I just logged on - how cool! I've learned all sorts of fascinating facts, like you once used to be a dragon - amazing! I especially like your Girlie Page, a nice bit of Girl Power, hooray for us!

Can't say I've ever experienced the short skirt thingy, rarely venturing above the dancefloor. I HAVE, though, experienced MBFDS - Minimal Bra For Dancing Syndrome. This is when it suddenly dawns on you that you should have stuck on your sports bra for the Morpeth Rant, instead of that sexy little strapless number...

Keep up the Bis!

Love,

"Bristol Girlie"

Folk Festival Handbag Top Ten

What do you keep in your handbag when you go to a ceilidh?

I found out recently that a girlie friend of a friend always keeps a knife and fork in her handbag, as well as sachets of salt, pepper and tomato ketchup!

Here's my list of ten must-take-with-me items, not in order of importance. Let me know if you've got any more practical suggestions...

1 Wet wipes

2 Spare knickers (thank you Penny!)

3 Water bottle

4 Fan

5 Dancing shoes

6 Little black book - for noting down addresses of partners

7 Diary - for making dates

8 Hairbrush

9 Safety pins

10 Body Shop Refreshing Foot Spray

GIRL POWER - EUROPEAN STYLE

I was very impressed when I saw 'FREYJA' at Cecil Sharp House the other day. Six fantastic female musicians from five different European countries. But how do they ever get together to practise?

AND FINALLY...

According to several people (no, not all of my readers are girls!) who responded to my list of favourite girlies, Linda Snell and not Helen Archer is the Archer you most love to hate. She certainly deserves a special mention for the episode when she massaged Joe Grundy.

See you next time! Love and Bismarcks,

Nina
