TO TIE OR KNOT TO TIE ?

Received a very interesting reply to the "Windsor. Yes or No" tie-related question. It has been suggested that with the modern tie, especially the fashionable silk item, there is simply not enough bulk to the tie to sustain a traditional knot. Far better to use the enhancing qualities of a Windsor. What do you think?

GADGET NEWS

Ed bought a really good bargain at B&Q* the other day. It was a 12v cordless drill/screwdriver, with case, a selection of drills and screwdriver bits and a battery charger, and was only £24.99.

BLOKE TIP

Imagine a perfect evening. Soft light*, mood music*, a candle lit dinner table set for two*, good wine*, a delicious hand prepared meal*, perhaps a curry* or spaghetti bolognese* (not fancy, I know, but this is bloke talk, a gritty and realistic reflection of life in a man's world) and the partner of choice*. So tell me this? delicious and toothsome though that special meal may be, why does curry and spag always taste better cold in a sandwich the next morning?

ASK THE BISMARCKS

Dear Bismarcks,

If I shower in my underpants, will this save me from having to buy a flannel, and reduce my laundry bill?

Dear "Lonely",

Although the initial impression may be "Yes, a good money saving wheeze", closer examination of the facts reveals that one saving will be at the cost of the other. Though the pants may become cleaner by the friction action of washing, they are in reality merely re-applying to the parent body that which had recently, or maybe not so recently, become adhered to the pants. Our advice would be to go out and buy a flannel, you smelly skinflint*.

*Just for a change, The Bismarcks wholeheartedly endorse the advice given in this answer.
