Beata Maria(Diamonds)

I
Dreamt
I
Stood
on a vast expanse
Of glimmering
(Ivory-bone-snow)
White sand.
I
Knelt in that shining shoal
Filled eager fingers
Brought cupped hands to my face.
Sparkling, winking, incandescent treasure:
Lo, they were filled with diamonds.
I held them for a brief moment
Then let them run
In rivulets to the ground,
So I might
Try the trick
A second time.
I
Filled my cup again
Raised it to my greedy eyes:
Only sand.
Again: (sand)
Again:
Dry desert filled my hungry hands;
Glimmering
(Snow-bone-ivory)
Beautiful white sand
Beautiful white sand,
But what is sand
To
One
Who has lost
Diamonds?
Get back, Honky Cat.
