I Love MIDI music! Ya wanna fight about it?

Straight to the Files!

I never succeeded my dream of having Software Wavetable Synthesis... something which seemed very possible- if you think about it, why not? Basically what a Wavetable Soundcard does is use instrument samples to recreate the sounds of instruments. Why do I need a special soundcard for that? I should be able to do that through my WAV out.

Then I found WinGroove (for Win 3.1/95). I was very, very skeptical at first. Every other program I had had some drawback to it, I was waiting hear this one's. The first MIDI I played was the Red Hot Chili Pepper's Aeroplane. I smacked myself in the face. I Whooed. I jumped for joy. I'm being literal. "Did you hear those drums? Listen to that guitar! It's working! With no slowdown!" As with anything that has this much wonder to a man, I was afraid to touch it. It was a Godly program. I gave to my friend. He agreed. And life was good. It can be installed as a driver. That means anything that uses Windows for MIDI playback will play at Wavetable Quality. Even on a 486 PC.

Of course there is the issue of it being only a 10-day trial period before you have to shell out 20 measly dollars. But I.. um, resolved that, and have been using this program over a year. I almost forgot what FM Synthesis sounds like. Yuck. My sound now almost matches that on one of my friends AWE 32. People: Really, truly, honestly: Try this. It'll take you 20 minutes (on a 14.4) to get this. And 20 dollars to register it or another 20 minutes to find the registration some other way, you slime of the internet. ;-)

I don't have enough server space to put up the WinGroove Zip file. So instead, I'll offer up a link for the Official WinGroove Web Site. Note that the site has an English and Japanese version, only the author's English isn't too hot. Feel free to visit anyways. On the official page you'll find samples as to what WinGroove can do- that is if you're STILL not convinced; and updates for the program. Here on my page I'm offering up my all time favorite MIDIs, individually and in a ZIP file, which I highly recommend you get instead. ;-)

Long, huh? How 'bout I offer a trip to the Top or maybe to My Main Page? I'm such a nice guy!
