I knew I loved you is a pure, sweet, simple ballad about the soulmate you are yet to meet. You know they are out there, and you know that sort of love exists... but you are yet to find it... and you are happy to wait for it. Darren: This love song is very simple. Nothing else on the record is as pure as this song, and I think it was really essential to include it. When I wrote it, I wasnt feeling that way at the time, as opposed to "Truly Madly Deeply" which I was absolutley living and breathing. I was there. I didnt know if I could write this one without haveing the same feelings, but I did and it actually puts a lump in my throat. Daniel: This song is beautiful with Darrens falsetto and the rise of acoustic guitars. It has a lot of innocence. It was important that we find this place on the album again.
