Oi! Righteous
It all began when we were in Sweden’s answer to High School; ”Hgstadiet”. We were punkrockers at that time, and all we wanted to do was get drunk and have a ball. After listening to groups like The Exploited, Blitz , GBH and Misfits, we finally got our thumbs out from our arses, and started a band. In the beguinning, we called ourselves ”Helt Enkelt Stjrt”, which means ”Simply Butt” or something, in English. We played some kind of hardcore punkrock with really catchy tunes and swedish lyrics. The members at that time were: King Jake: Vocals, Bootboy Bob (me): Bass, Chris Da Rock Doc: Guitar, and Emanuel Magnusson: Drums.

First out was the big Arkadien Gig, in our hometown Rimbo. It sucked! We were so terrible! There are no words for how bad we sounded that night. But hey! It’s punkrock! We couldn't care less! gg4s.jpg (10880 bytes)

After half a year, Emanuel quit the band to play ice-hockey, and Jake took over the bass. My call was to sing, so I sang…or should I say yelled? Anyway, that’s the way the band looks today, and at the same time, we decided to change name to Righteous, after a thing that Danny De Vito said in ”Twins”. We played a lot of punk-gigs with big swedish names like Coca Carola, Refused and the not so punky Jumper. Our list of songs contained numbers like: ”S.A.W.S” (about getting drunk in every weather), ”Time Has Come” (about the destruction and exploiting of mother earth), ”Da Rimbo Mob”(which actually was a warning to all people coming to Rimbo, without living there: ”If you’re from another town, you should know who weares the crown!”) and the one about our pride: ”Our Pride”.
As the time went by, we moved more and more into the wonderful world of Oi!, and soon we cropped our heads. We’ve been skinheads for about two years now, and are very comfortable with it. The only one who didn't joined in was Sluggo, who wanted to keep his long, greasy hippie-hair. Still, he’s no fucking hippie! Then he wouldn’t be a part of Righteous from the beginning. I think, the only way to describe him is as a heavy metal freak or something, but he's going to get his head shaved, I promise...hehe.... Our lyrics are more Oi! now . They are mostly about the pride of being a part of the best and smartest of youth cults; Skinheads. They’re also about drinking beer, fighting, watching football, and the problems we have with local nazi cunts. gg7s.jpg (13035 bytes)

gg10s.jpg (15270 bytes) In the spring/summer of 1998, our former bass-player; Emanuel, died in a car accident. After quit playing with us, he was still a very good mate and fan of the band. We made a song as a hail and a memory to him, and after a summer without much rehearsing, we decided to make a demo.
We were pretty pleased with the result; a six number long tape with attitude, but bad production. Well, a garage band like us can’t afford so much more. gg1s.jpg (14330 bytes)
