I am currently in my 3rd year at Georgia State University(the best jazz department In Georgia)This school has the BEST saxophone teacher in the country(my opinion). He is only 29 and he has mastered the horn farther than I can imagine to(only as of the moment-watch out Sam Skelton). His only fault is that he plays on Yamaha/Keilworth instraments(since selmer rules)but I guess nobody is perfect.
MY EQUIPMENT:
Baritone sax is my main concentration and I own a Selmer Super Action 80 Serie II baritone that I purchased when I was at Winder-Barrow High School. It is the best bari I have ever played on.For classical playing I use a Selmer H hard rubber mpc, but for Jazz I use a BAY original streamlined metal mpc.Lately I have used Rico's new Select Jazz reeds in 3s stregnth, and have found them very acceptable.
My alto is a 1939 Selmer Balanced Action that has been re-engraved by Don Menza .I have an old 1950's Selmer E hard rubber for classical, a Dukoff D8 for rock/jazz, and I am thinking of buying a moderate Bay rubber mouthpiece for less fusion oriented sounds.
