Imagine for a moment, if you will, a band who combine the sounds of the
60ft Dolls, Oasis and, on one occasion, country music bloke Billy Ray Cyrus, while
pinching tunes left, right and centre from the likes of Paul Weller, Shed Seven and even
Meatloaf! Or, on second thoughts, dont. Its quite horrible isnt it.
But now try and imagine a band who do this with a little bit (and I did only say little
bit) of credibility. This is probably the best attempt Ive ever heard at passing
off a covers album as your own work. And it aint half bad. Some tunes could even
give the bands they were inspired by a run for their money.
The only thing that this album really shows though is that The Hybirds have a rather
large record collection. And as my psychiatrist keeps telling me, size isnt
everything.
