...was destiny staring him in the eyes from across the room...

Her smile...it lit up her face. Blue eyes shimmering like a tropical ocean on a mid summer's day. Her hair cascaded over fragile shoulders in burgundy curls. Skin pale as fresh fallen snow with lips tainted the color of a strawberry Popsicle.

He noticed everything about her as she stood across the room. The way her lips moved as she spoke and her gentle hands gestures as to emphasize each point. How she shifted her weight occasionally, her hair swishing smoothly behind her.

Like an intricately woven tapestry in which she was centered, everything disappeared into background when he looked at her. What he wouldn't do to speak to her, just once...to know her name.

~~~~~
There was a boy. He stood across the room surrounded by so many others, but her stood out. The eyes, they laughed and shone a torrid chocolate. Blonde hair brushed his ear lobed and gleamed under the bright lights. His cheeks flushed a healthy rose as he laughed and his teeth were amazingly straight.
She took note of each little thing he did, from the way he laughed to the movement of his eyes as he spoke among his friends. Something...there was something about him that drew her to him, into his seductive eyes, alluring smile. She wanted to, no needed to get closer, to hear his voice, to know his name.
~~~~~

Music blared through speakers and bass pumped heavily as bodies moved to and fro. Heat radiated from the sea of nameless people and the sweet smell of perfume arose from half of the dancing population.

He'd lost her in the crowd; his friends had distracted him, now he searched in vain. Why, he didn't know. For all he knew of this girl she could be an axe murderess. But still, there was something about her that made him need to know her.

She had to be somewhere in this crowd, of that he was sure. He could feel her presence, sense her beauty. There were too many people...the crowd was closing in on him slowly. Yet she was no where to be found.

He had to get out before he became another in this faceless crowd. Before he lost the image of her that was on his mind. So, he turned and pushed his way out of the masses, to find her, and some fresh air.

~~~~~
"It's over..." the cold words echoed through her head and emptied her soul.
Sitting on the floor she let icy-hot tears sting her cheeks as the bass from the music inside shook her body along with heavy sobs. From the moment she looked into 'the boy's' eyes. For even just an instant, things had gone down hill. Her boyfriend had dumped her for a close friend; another friend started a fight with her. Yet strangely enough she still needed to see 'the boy'. 'The boy' was beautiful, even from a distance and she couldn't imagine how attractive he must look up close. Besides she imagined that he could fix all the problems that had transpired since she'd seen him with just one kiss.
Her mind flashed back to her boyfriend. He used to be sweeter than sugar but then, out of the blue he changed on her. She assumed she'd corrupted him, it had to have been her fault. Although he'd been acting like a moron lately she still cared for him, something told her she always would. Then Cori, Cori went and freaked out on her, starting a fight over nothing. Nearly throwing away their friendship for no reason.
Her world was spinning dangerously out of control and she couldn't grab a hold of anything for stability. Except for those eyes...
~~~~~

There she was, across the hall. A small ball huddled up across the hall, shoulders shaking with tears. Yet there she was. He could tell by the amazing hair falling carelessly around her, enshrouding her petite body.

This was it, now or never, he had to talk to her. Otherwise it would drive him completely insane. So he took one step after another, growing more confident with each stride.

~~~~~
She saw two feet step up in front of her and she gradually lifted her head from its position in her hands. She didn't recognize the shoes or the outfit, but the moment she saw the face she gasped in realization.
"Hi, I'm Taylor. And you are?" 'The boy' asked calmly.
She nervously took his gentle outstretched hand and shook it, "Zia"
"You look like you could use a friend..." he trailed off as she shifted over and he took a seat comfortingly close to her. She had a good feeling about this boy.
