"Callista, can we talk please." I said, begging with her through the door.
"I said Go away!" she cried back at me. I could just feel my heart tear in two as her words hit me. The y hit me with a force that I didn't realize words could hold.
"I know what you saw. I know it looked bad and all but it was not what you think. Just talk to me." I had to have another chance; I couldn't leave it like this.
" I don't want to deal with your crap right now. Go away." This time her words nearly knocked me off of my feet and I felt tears form in my eyes, but I swallowed the expanding lump in my throat and continued.
" Callista, I really, really like you. I think I love you and I want a chance to be with you. Don't shut me out because of Mikeala. Let me explain." I said this louder, not caring who else heard me; I was beyond caring about anything but Callista at the moment.
"Come in" she said gently, finally giving in to my pleading.
As I slowly opened the large and heavy door to her room, I couldn't help but be awed by my new surroundings. I had never seen a girl's bedroom as elegant as CJ's was, but at the same time it was like a normal teenage girl's room. My little sisters would kill for a room like this one. The room was huge, but filled to the brim with furniture, pictures and accessories. When you opened the door the first thing in front of you was a small sitting space. She had plastic inflatable chairs, a sofa, an ottoman, and table all in various shades of blue. Beyond that was her large four poster iron bed, it was enveloped with a fluffy denim covered comforter and tons of pillows in shades of blue and green. There was this gauzy green fabric draped around the top of the bed. On either side of the bed were iron and glass night tables, which held various books, vases with flowers, pictures and on one a phone and alarm clock. There were large windows above the night tables covered in pale, purple, floor length curtains. To the left of the door was her vanity made of wrought iron and a glass surface, which had all kinds of pretty bottles and perfumes on it. There was a door on the wall to the far left and I assumed it was a closet. TO the right was a door that opened to reveal a bathroom. Near it was a desk with a computer and books above it on a hutch. Then there was a dresser with pictures on it's top to the right of the dresser was a full-length mirror which had pictures of famous people all around it. On the walls were posters of Music groups, actors, and pictures of female athletes. Her walls were painted pale green with light purple trim and a border of light blue stars, the carpet was pale purple and all over the ceiling were glow in the dark stars. There was also a large window with a window seat that looked out over the Great South Bay, it was off to the left just beyond the closet close to the bedside.
I walked forward slowly taking in my surroundings and I saw Callista sitting on her bed. I could see from where I was standing that she had been crying into the bedspread because there was a wet spot located in front of her and her eyes were all puffy and red. I advanced and she gently patted a spot on the bed across from her. I sat down and looked in her eyes, trying to see what she was feeling. Then I tentatively took her hands in mine, when she didn't remove her hands I held them a bit tighter. I then slowly and cautiously began to speak.
" You better have one hell of an explanation." she cut me off.
" I do. Look, Callista, I want to tell you that I really like youa lot. I've never liked anyone this way and it feels so good. When you left the living room after the gifts Mikeala took me aside. I figured that she just wanted to talk and it wouldn't hurt anything. I had no clue that she felt that way about me. I was planning on talking to her and then getting you alone to hang out and talk andstuff." I paused and took a nervous breath. " She suddenly pulled me close and kissed me. I tried to get away but she held strong, and shoved her tongue down my throat. I was struggling to get away from her when you came over and saw us. I swear the whole time I, I was trying to get away, I wanted to see you and certainly did not want to be with her. Then finally when she stopped to breathe and I told her off. You can go ask anyone downstairs they heard me yell, even ask her, she's crying now."
She just sat there looking me directly in the eyes. Her emerald eyes flickered with hope and longing, and pain. I wanted to kiss her and hold her and tell her everything would be all right, but at this point I couldn't tell what she was going to say or do. I had hurt her bad, without even trying and it might take her time to get over that.
" Can you ever forgive me?" I whispered, pleading with her.
I don' t think she could've put her response any better. I was caught off guard but not at all upset by her action. She reached out and placed her smooth hand to my cheek. I rested my face in her hand and inhaled the scent of the body lotion she had used, Dream by the Gap. She gently rubbed her thumb across my cheekbone below my eye. She idly tilted her head and moved in, finally, what seemed like lifetimes later our lips met. They joined in a gentle, sweet kiss, and in that one kiss I knew how she felt, the same way as I did. My heart was racing and my body was spinning in sheer joy, but I ignored that and proceeded. I slid closer to her and placed my hand on her lower back, which was exposed by her brown velvet shirt. My hand tingled, as I touched her, it felt good though. She wrapped her arms around my neck and twisted a piece of my hair in her fingers as I ran my tongue over her sweet lips. She parted them slightly and allowed my tongue to enter her mouth, I let it linger with hers. She ran her tongue over my teeth and let it play with mine again as she laid back on the bed, positioning me over her. Not wanting to hurt her I supported my weight with my left hand ran my right hand gently over her side. My lips were caressing her tender neck when
" CJ, mom... what are you doing?" a child's voice called from the doorway.
" J, what did I tell you about knocking!!" Callista stood up quickly and smoothed out her shirt, I sat up on the edge of the bed and ran my hands through my hair. CJ lifted the child to her hip and I realized that it was her younger brother Joshua. Then she calmly asked," What does mommy want?"
" She wants you ta come down and hewp cwean up." He said, his child's lisp kicking in. I heaved a sigh of relief when he said this, realizing that he was too young to understand what had just happened. He was too little to understand that when you walked in on 2 teenagers and found them sitting on a bed with flushed faces and their breathing was heavy it usually meant that they had been doing something that they shouldn't have been. 'Childhood Innocence, how wonderful it is.' I thought to myself
" Sure, in a minute squirt." She said placing him back on the ground and ruffling his hair in a loving manner. She turned to me with a radiant smile on her face and I too smiled.
" He reminds me of my little brother Mackie at home...Gosh I miss him." I said still smiling.
She walked over to me and gave me a hug, burying her face in my neck.
" You are too sweet," she commented, her face still in my neck.
" So I take it you forgive me." I responded giving her a coy smile.
" You yes, Mikeala no, but she deserves it for putting you through that," she said giving me the same look.
She then took my hand and dragged me out of her room downstairs. As we walked through the living room I could feel Mikeala staring daggers at me but I could care less. Having Callista was what I needed and Mikeala would have to grow up and get over it. Either that or lose me and Callista as friends forever, but that was a choice she'd have to make.
