"So who's the new family moving next door, mom?" Nick asked. He had been seeing moving trucks at that house all morning.
"All I know is that it?s a woman who just started working in the office with me. She's moving in with her daughter today. Don't you think you should stop by and say hello? Their last name is Salinger."
"Uhhh, mom, I think I have other stuff to do, you know....."
"Nick, go now please. I even baked a cake for them, but make sure they return the plate."
"I thought that cake was for us! Ok I'll go, but come with me. I feel really uncomfortable just barging in on complete strangers."
"Fine, get ready. We'll leave in a few minutes."

*Ding Dong*
"Mom, the door bell", Sharon said very matter of factly.
"Can you get it please?", her mother asked.
"But you're closer."
"Get the damn door!"
"Fine!" Sharon screamed as she walked up to the door.
"Who is it?"
"It's your neighbors, the Carters," Jane Carter said.
"Uh...mom?" Sharon asked, uncertainly.
"Oh let them in, it?s the lady I work with." Sharon opened the door and was greeted by two blondes with blue eyes. The woman was in her 40s or so, but the boy was about Sharon's age, pretty tall (about 6 feet), and kinda cute.
"Hi, I'm Sharon. Come in, my mom's right in the living room"
"Hi Sharon, nice to meet you, I'm Jane, and this is my son, Nick."
Everyone exchanged their hellos and they all sat in the living room. After about a half-hour of listening to her mom chitchat with Nick's mom, Sharon was getting extremely restless. She got up to leave.
"Where do you think you're going?" Linda, Sharon's mom, asked.
"Uh for a walk. I haven't seen the beach yet."
"Oh well Nick knows the beach like the back of his hand. He'd love to show you around, right Nick?" Jane said, while Nick inwardly groaned. He had already been extremely attracted to Sharon as soon as he laid eyes on her, and he hadn't been able to say a word since he walked in. He wasn't very good with words. He sometimes had a stutter when he got too nervous, and being around Sharon made it even worse. She was short, about 5'3", had a dark complexion complete with dark wavy hair and dark almond shaped eyes. He wasn't sure what her ethnicity was, but he was curious to find out.
"So...uh...Nick...are you ready to go?" Sharon asked. She wasn't too excited about the situation either. He seemed like a dork.
"Yeah sure, let's go". They went through the kitchen to the back door, which lead to the beach. Nick noticed that Sharon grabbed something from one of the kitchen cupboards before they left. She also grabbed her book bag. Nick didn't question her, and he led the way out not knowing what to expect.
