I showed her my move on the floor again and she added it to the dance. After a few days of practicing we had the dance down packed. I loved the dance because of all the little battling moves and stuff we did with Backstreet. There was one particular part where I jumped in front of AJ and he put his hands on my hips and we rocked from side to side. It was too bomb.
Finally, it was time to film the video. 2 Much was looking too much. We all went into makeup around 7 in the morning and came out at 9:30. Our outfits were too much also. I had one a leather halter dress with two splits up the leg, Shannah had on a leather catsuit, and Jessica had on a leather midriff top with a short skirt. Hazel had on a sort of leather halter dress (the top was gathered in the center of her chest and the laces wrapped around her neck) and Dominique had on a leather halter top and matching hiphuggers. We went to get our hair done and to get dressed. I had my hair parted down the middle and combed straight so that it brushed my midriff. We all looked in the mirrors and screamed we looked so cute.
I knew Backstreet was waiting for us so we walked out at the same time. All these whistles greeted us. I was the last person out of the room and AJ walked around me in a circle.
"Pretty good," he said.
"You aren't too bad yourself," I smiled looking at him. They were all dressed in colored shirts and white pants. AJ was dressed in yellow (of course), Howie was in purple, Nick was in peach, Brian was in orange and Kevin was in blue. We walked on stage and waited for the director to tell us what to do. He situated us and they started the music. I sang the first few lyrics and the dancing started. We did the whole video in the leather outfits and then we changed into the cargo outfits.
"This is so much fun," Hazel squealed.
"That dance was too bomb," Jessica said.
We all changed into the cargo outfits and did the video all over again. All the boys had on white pants with black shirts hanging open. I had so much fun dancing and battling with AJ. There were so many accidents; funny one's though. On one take we were supposed slide in between the boys and they were going to pull us up. Well anyway Jessica slid under Brian's legs and when he was supposed to pull her up his grip slipped and she fell on her butt. I couldn't help but bust out laughing, as did everyone else. Although she did get him back, but not on purpose. There was another move where we do this kick thing and I guess Brian was too close to Jessica because the next thing I knew Brian was on the ground groaning. I didn't want to laugh, but Nick and AJ just were cracking up so I laughed. It was the funniest video shoot I'd ever been on not that I'd been on many.
The video for "Diggin on You" was released to MTV and they previewed it for Spankin' New week. People began to request it everyday and 2 Much became a hit. We were officially launched into the world and we were blowing up. Now the top three was N Sync, Backstreet Boys, and 2 Much (us). Jive had decided to throw a dinner to celebrate our success. For the dinner I dressed in a gold fitted dress with a long train. I had called in advance to AJ's mom and asked her to baby-sit Xander for us. We walked into the dinner and immediately saw the rest of 2 Much and Backstreet Boys.
"You look beautiful tonight," Kevin said to me.
"Thank you," I said.
AJ and I walked around the party mingling with the other guests. As I was standing near the bar I saw AJ talking to Howie. He looked a little nervous and upset and I wondered what was up. He walked over to me and asked me to outside for some air. I nodded my head and followed him out the patio doors. I stood against the railing with AJ and looked at him expectedly. He still looked nervous so I kissed his lips to calm him down.
"What's wrong boo?" I asked.
"I have something to say."
"All right," I said.
"Kelly, ever since I met you I've felt so many things; anger, happiness, jealousy, and frustration. I've realized that those feelings are just part of what I feel for you. You gave me a son and I love you dearly for it," AJ said kissing my hand. "And so I sing this song for you." He sat me down on a bench in a secluded area on the patio. He knelt down next to me and began singing "Lay Down Beside Me" to me. I couldn't help but cry at the romantic picture we made. I couldn't look at him without tears rolling down my face. Towards the end of the song he reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a little box. He popped it open and took my hand. There was absolute silence except for my overexcited cries. It seemed as if I was hyperventilating.
"What is that?" I asked referring to the fat ass diamond ring in the box.
"I realize that I want you for myself, for always. Marry me Kelly," he said.
I looked at him and saw that he didn't look nervous anymore. I looked at the ring and then at his face. He looked so sincere, but was I ready for marriage? The question was AJ ready to settle down with a wife? I looked up at him again and I knew my answer.
"Yes," I said.
"Yes?" he asked.
"Yes," I nodded crying.
"Yes!" AJ yelled swinging me into his arms. "I love you, I love you, I love you," he chanted against my neck. He put me down and put the ring on my finger. I wiped my cheeks and went to the restroom to fix my makeup. When I came back I walked over to AJ who was talking to the rest of the boys and the rest of 2 Much.
"I have something to tell you guys," AJ said.
"Yeah?" Nick asked.
"I asked Kelly something real important tonight and she said yes."
"What'd you ask her?" Brian asked.
I lifted my hand and showed everyone the ring. "We're engaged," I squealed.
"Oh my God," Shannah said. It was absolute chaos after that. All the girls ambushed me with congratulations, as did the boys. The congratulations were cut short however by an announcement from Danny.
"I'd like to dedicate a toast to the new addition to the Jive family; the group 2 Much. We've been getting offers for you guys to appear on a lot of groups albums," he said to us.
"Like who?" I asked.
"Well for starters *N Sync was very interested in working with you girls," Danny said.
"Oh my gosh, *N Sync," Hazel squealed.
"What!" AJ demanded.
"What!" Kevin repeated.
"Sounds like a lot of fun," I said with a smile. AJ looked at me funny and listened to Danny talk. It seemed as though Jive had gotten requests for 2 Much to sing with people like Aaliyah, N Sync, Spice Girls, Missy, etc.
"I am so excited," Jessica said.
"Me too," I said.
"I cannot wait to meet Justin Timberlake, he is so cute," I said to Shannah.
"What did you say?" AJ asked.
"Calm down honey," I said kissing his lips.
"NO, you just said that another man was cute."
"AJ, listen to yourself. I don't love him I love you. We're engaged, remember?"
He nodded his head as I kissed his nose. We all stayed at the party for another few hours and then we all headed home. AJ drove to his mom's house and we picked up Xander. We told his mom that we were engaged and she didn't look surprised. On the way home I held Xander in my arms singing him to sleep. He looked so much like AJ, but at the same time he looked like me. The brown eyes staring back at me were AJ's, but the lips he had were mine.
"Are you okay?" AJ asked me.
"Yeah why?"
"You stopped singing and I thought something was wrong."
"No, I was just thinking how much little Alex looks like both of us."
When we got home I put Xander to bed and went into the room with AJ. I stood in front of the mirror pulling my hair down when he came up behind me.
"Let me," he said. He reached up and took the pins from my hair. I don't know why, but it turned me on so much to see AJ's hands in my hair. When he finished with that his hands moved to the zipper in the back of my dress and pulled it down. The dress fell from my body and puddled on the floor. I turned to face AJ and he lifted me into his arms. He carried me to the bed holding my gaze all the while. There he laid me down and made love to me as sweet as he ever had. This time it was different though it was more powerful.
I felt so overwhelmed and so covered in AJ's love. And when my climax hit me I couldn't help, but cry. From that night on AJ started paying a lot more attention to me. Every night we were together; if we weren't with the rest of Backstreet then we were at home alone with Xander.
Things seemed to not be able to get any better and I was right. They started going downhill. 2 Much began to perform a lot and AJ would come to see the shows. It all started the night of our first performance in the House of Blues. We all went onstage and we were a hit if I do say so myself. There was one part in the song where I leaned down and touched the face of this guy and AJ didn't like it. It got even worse when 2 Much went to California and was on KIIS 102.7.
"And now we're here with the new Pop/R&B sensation 2 Much. How about you girls introduce yourselves for the people?" Rick Dees said.
"Wassup this is Kelly a.k.a. Willow comin at ya," I said.
"Hey this is Jessi."
"This is Shannah."
"What's cracking this is Hazel."
"Hi everyone this is Domi."
"You girls have appeared out of nowhere and you're climbing the charts. How does that make you feel?" Rick asked.
"It was very overwhelming," Jessica said.
"It still is," Hazel said.
"So tell us the story of how you guys got started, did you all want to be singers?"
"Well, we never really thought about it. We were all kicking it at AJ's house and he had heard us sing so we sang for all the boys. Anyway AJ set up a meeting with Jive and the rest is history," I said.
"When you say AJ you mean from the Backstreet Boys?" Ellen K asked.
"Yes," Jessica said. We were all advised to not say anything about our relationships with Backstreet. It could go bad for our sales and theirs too.
"Ok, now we'll take a few calls from some people. Caller, you're on," Ellen K said.
"Hi, this is Arielle from Santana and I was wondering were you the Kelly AJ mentioned when Backstreet was on Rosie?"
I sat there in amazement, but I played it off. I laughed and I said, "Hi Arielle. No, that wasn't me. AJ like the rest of Backstreet are just very good friends of mine."
"Oh ok, next call. Tell us your name and city and then state your question," Rick said.
"Hi, this is TJ from Hawthorne and this question is addressed to Willow."
"Yes?" I asked.
"Can you tell me why you are so fine. I love your music and I think that you are so fine. What do you look for in a man?" he said.
I laughed and said, "First off thank you very much for the support TJ and second I like honesty, romance, a sense of humor, things like that."
"All right enough sucking up TJ next caller," Rick joked.
The next few calls were from fans saying how much they liked our music and things like that. The rest of the girls got calls like I did saying that they were so fine. At the end of the interview Rick asked us to sing something acapella. We left the studio and amazingly there was a crowd there waiting for us. We stood there and signed their autographs and took pictures with them. We went to my house where Backstreet was waiting for us. We all had a show today on Jay Leno. As soon as I walked through the door I noticed the look on AJ's face. He did not look happy.
