As soon as we got home I put Xander to bed and then I went to bed myself. The next day AJ drove me to some Lincoln dealer. I talked to the dealer person- man and we discussed the truck. I took it for a test drive and I loved it. I walked into that dealership without a car, but when I left they told me they would have my car ready for me tomorrow. I had bought a gray-blue 99 Lincoln Navigator equipped with tinted windows, a CD player and a tape deck plus all the rest.
"My car is going to be so fly," I laughed on the way home.
"You know we have to start planning this wedding."
"AJ, you didn't want a long engagement. You know just in case you might change your mind," I argued.
"If I weren't driving right now I'd hit you. You know I love you and only you, I'm ready to get married as soon as possible."
"AJ, you're only 21 and I'm 18."
"So."
"Alright, if its what you want."
"It is what I want."
We walked into the house and Xander began to cry. I took him upstairs to his room and AJ followed. As I undressed Xander and put him down for bed my cellphone rang. I couldn't get it so I told AJ to answer it.
"Hello, who is this?" he asked the caller. There was silence and I looked up. AJ's face was contorting with rage.
"Look, Kelly is busy right now taking care of OUR son so I suggest you lose her number."
"AJ!" I admonished. I reached out for the phone and he slapped it into my hand.
"Hello," I said. I was greeted by Justin's laughter. "What is so funny?" I asked.
"Your boyfriend is so easy to get mad."
"Curly, don't do that please. We finally got back together and I'm trying to make this work."
"You're back with him?!" Justin yelled.
"Yes."
"I knew it, I knew this would happen if you went to Florida," Justin said.
"Calm down," I said.
"I am calm, so can you go out tomorrow or are you on lock down?" he asked me.
"I'm free, why what's up?"
"Well JC just asked Kristina to marry him and we're all going out to lunch."
"How sweet," I gushed. "Of course I'll go. Tell Kristina I will see her tomorrow," I said.
"Cool."
"I gotta go, but see you."
"One love kid," Justin said.
I flipped the phone closed and turned to see AJ rocking Xander to bed.
"What was that about?"
"Justin told me that JC just got engaged and there's a celebration lunch."
"You going?" he asked.
"Yes."
"Oh."
"What you don't want me to?" I smiled as I kissed his lips.
"No, I don't. Justin might try to get you drunk and you'll end up sleeping with him," AJ said.
If he only knew the truth, I thought to myself. We put Xander to bed and went to bed ourselves. The next day I showered and put on a pink Bebe dress with some white tennis shoes and a white Bebe hat.
"I don't know if I'm comfortable with you going," AJ said kissing my neck.
"Babe, don't worry. I'll just flash this huge rock and they'll back off," I joked.
"I love you Kelly," he said.
"I love you too AJ."
He kissed me on the lips and we went to pick up my car. As soon as I saw my truck I screamed and ran over to it. I rubbed the side of it and chanted, "Mine, mine, mine."
"We all know that Kelly," AJ laughed.
I snatched the keys from the dealer man-person and hopped in.
"I'll follow you and Xander home," I said. I drove home and I was in heaven.
The car was perfect it ran smooth as silk and the CD player was banging. Just as we got home I noticed the time.
"AJ, I'm leaving so I'll see you later on tonight. Ok, boo?"
"Okay, are you taking Xander with you?"
"Want me to?" I asked.
"You can if you want to."
"Alright well hand me the car seat and his diaper bag."
AJ strapped the seat in and threw the bag on my backseat.
"Be careful," he told me.
"I will," I smiled.
I drove off with my Brandy CD blasting (not too loud because Xander was in the car). I was supposed to meet everyone at JC's and then we would go from there. I pulled into his driveway bumping 'Never Say Never'. I climbed out of the car and out walked Justin.
"Justy baby, help me with Xander," I said.
"Wait, don't. We were waiting for you, we're all leaving," he said kissing me hi.
"Alright, tell everyone come on."
"New car?" he asked when he came back.
"Yeah, AJ and I picked it up today."
"Speaking of AJ, is he treating you right?"
"Yes, Justin."
"Because if you need consoling then we could always have a repeat of that night I stayed over," he leered lifting his eyebrows.
"That's okay dear," I laughed. Everyone walked out and we all headed to the restaurant. Once there we all were shown to a huge table. I situated Xander in his stroller next to me and sat down. Justin sat down next to me and smiled.
"Kristina, I am so happy for you," I told her. Her and JC were sitting across from me.
"It looks like I should be congratulating you too," she smiled looking at my engagement ring. Everyone looked at my ring and aahed.
"Noooo!" Justin yelled.
Everyone looked at him funny as did I. "Noooo, why didn't you tell me first. I should've been the first to know," he quickly added. "Um excuse me, nature calls."
I watched Justin leave and I knew something was wrong.
"I'll be right back," I said.
"Sure," JC said kissing Kristina.
I followed Justin into the bathroom area and pulled his arm.
"What's wrong with you?" I asked.
"Kelly, tell me that's not an engagement ring."
"I can't."
"Why Kelly? You know how I feel about you."
"Justin, I never led you to believe there could be an us."
"I know, but I still hoped."
"Justin, what's the real reason behind this little outburst? I know damn well that excuse you just gave me was not true."
"You got me, it just you know bothers me that for once I can't get the girl I want," he laughed.
"Oh Justy pooh, you know I'll always love you," I smiled pulling him to me.
"Good because I'll always love you," Justin said giving me a quick peck.
"Oh I'm sorry," I heard someone gasp.
I turned around and saw a blond woman stumbling back.
"Its okay," I smiled pulling Justin back to the party. The lunch was a whole lot of fun. JC was such a comedian as was Kristina. They told us story after story about their relationship and we all laughed and joined in with our own stories. I tried not to bring up AJ so I used my old boyfriends as examples. We all decided to go back to JC's for coffee and whatever. I drove behind Justin who at every turn tried to race me.
"I have a baby in the car you idiot," I yelled at him.
"Oh yeah, sorry," he yelled back.
At JC's I was only there for a good hour before AJ called me on my cellphone. Justin had been doing his impression of Titanic when the phone rang. I picked it up and said hello.
"P-p-p-promise me," Justin said.
"Who is that?" AJ asked.
"Justin," I answered.
"Where are you?"
"JC's house with everyone else."
"I just wanted to tell you that we're all going to meet at B-Rok's house for a little reunion relaxation thing."
"Cool beans, what time?"
"I'm leaving now so when you leave there come straight to Brian's."
"Alright."
"Kelly girl, you aren't listening," Justin whined.
"Curly dear, calm down," I yelled.
"Looks like he really wants your attention," AJ sneered.
"Yeah well that's Justin."
"I wouldn't know."
"AJ," I warned.
"Peace," he said hanging up in my face.
I listened to Justin tell his joke over and then I left.
"Call me," Justin yelled.
"Will do."
"One love shorty," Justin said.
I left and drove to Brian's house. Everyone was already inside, but as soon as I walked in everyone shut up. I knew then that they had been talking about me.
"Don't mind me continue talking about me," I sneered.
"Kelly, you're overreacting. We were talking about the wedding," AJ said.
"Oh," I said. "Sorry," I replied sheepishly. I sat down next to AJ and handed Xander to Jessica.
"This is just like old times, huh?" Hazel asked.
"Yeah," we all agreed. Suddenly the doorbell rang and Domi got up to answer it. She came back with the same blond woman I saw in the restaurant.
"Brian, you have a guest," Domi said sitting down next to Kevin.
"Leigh Anne," Brian breathed.
"Leigh Anne?" Jessica repeated.
"Oh my goodness," I said. I took Xander from her before she could do anything.
"Brian, I'm sorry I didn't know you had guests."
"That's okay, why don't you join us?" Jessica asked scooting away from Brian.
"I don't want to impose," she denied.
"No, I won't hear of it. Come on, sit," Jessica pushed.
"No, I just need to talk to Brian for a moment in private."
Brian led her upstairs and into the kitchen. As soon as they were out of sight I spoke.
"What the hell is she doing here? Isn't that Brian's ex?" I asked.
"Yeah, I have no idea why she's here. She broke up with Brian about 2 months before we met you guys. Brian was really crazy about her," Nick said.
"Hey McFly, its called tact," Kevin said slapping Nick in the back of the head.
"Its okay, he's mine now," Jessica said.
Just then they walked back into the room. Leigh Anne did not look happy and neither did Brian. In fact they both looked mad. Leigh Anne looked straight at me and that's when she remembered me.
"Didn't I see you at the restaurant today?" she asked me.
"Yes, you did."
"I remember because you were hugging Justin from N Sync. I didn't know he had a girlfriend," she said with an evil glint in her eye.
"He's not my boyfriend," I said sweetly. One would think to take the tone of my voice as a hint to shut up, but she didn't.
"Really? I thought you were especially when he said he loved you," Leigh Anne said.
I didn't know if she did that on purpose or not, but everything went crazy.
