*Three Weeks Later*
The guys had been practicing and rehearsing for their world tour during the last couple of days, leaving them very little time to themselves. Amanda had been selected as a back up dancer for both N-Sync and BSB which meant she too was busy. Les dropped in at the studio from time to time to watch Howie. The only couple that decided to break up because of the tour was Kevin and Kaitlyn. I on the other hand spent some of my days in the studio watching the guys try their new dance routines which usually took them the whole day to pick up.
I got up from against the wall and made my way over to the drink machine.
"Carrie" Fatime yelled. I turned around.
"Would you be a sweetie and wedge the door open, our backup dancers should be here soon." She said. I fixed the door just as Fatime wanted it and walked over to the coke machine. Once I had sat down a couple of girls entered the studio and made their way into a corner in the room.
"You can take a quick break guys" she yelled over the music. I jumped up and waited for the guys. Brian ran and did a little skid before grabbing my coke and gulping it down.
"Hey leave me some" Nick said coming up behind Amanda.
"Stop your winging Nicky" Amanda cried. Brian handed the can to Nick and grabbed my hand spinning me into his arms.
"Care to dance my lady" he muttered. I laughed and shook my head.
"No way tiger" I answered. He pouted and began doing a little dance of his own. Everyone began laughing as Nick joined in as well.
"Coke" I stated shaking my head. Fatime came up behind them.
"When I give you guys a break, I'd recommend you cut any use of energy till break's over" she cried.
"Break's over"
The guys made their way back into the middle and sat on the floor facing the mirrored wall. Fatime walked over to the girls and said something to them before heading towards the stereo. I watched them fix up their hair and pull off their jumpers. It was then I noticed there was only four of them including Amanda.
"Carrie, comer here for a sec." Amanda yelled from the other side. I got up and walked over to her.
"Sup?"
"We need you to be Nick's partner" she said.
"Huh?" I answered.
"We're short a dancer, Nick's partner, she can't make it any more" she replied.
"I... ah... I" I began. She cut me short and grabbed my hand.
"Fatime, Carrie's gonna be Mindy's replacement" she told her. Fatime nodded and Amanda dragged me to the middle and sat me down.
"It's a new dance, so none of us know it yet. Don't sweat" she whispered. I began to answer but she silenced me.
"You'll be fine" Nick held his hand out to me and I grabbed it as he pulled me off the floor.
Hours went by as we went through the dance to 'I'll Never Find Someone Like You' over and over again. It was then I felt an unusual longing for Brian while dancing with Nick.
"What's the matter with you Carrie?" I thought to myself.
A couple of hours later Fatime ended the rehearsals for the day. I dragged myself over to Brian and swung my arms around his neck and laid my head tiredly on his chest. Howie tapped us on the shoulders.
"Come on you two let's get back home" he said. I pulled away and let Brian pick me up and carry me to Kevin's car.
"Close your eyes, make a wish and blow out the candlelight cause..." Brian began whispering into my ear in the back of Kevin's car.
"Ahem... if you don't mind people, I have my sanity to keep. And remember Fatime's orders" Nick smirked. I playfully punched his arm.
"Ouch" he whined.
"Oh, I'm sorry" I answered and gave his arm a quick stroke with my hand.
