DJ Dodgie's Club Guide
Here, I hope to eventually have a comprehensive club review section, written by you, the punters. I have written a couple to start you off, but I want some contributions. If you have been to a club, anywhere in the country, and you feel you can write something about it then please mail me.
Cream - Nation, Liverpool, City Centre, Every Saturday night (9:30pm - 3am), £10 Non Members, £8 Members.
Well, what can I say, this has to be *the* one and only hard-bag club in the country, if you like big heavy, stomping beats, then this is for you. With Oakenfold now resident in the courtyard, I'd recommend you try to get in there as soon as possible to avoid queuing, I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the queue into the courtyard. If there had to be a UK Club God, I'm afraid this is it. Just look at the line-up! With the likes of the Chemical Brothers, who now seem to be making a regular, monthly appearance (rumors are flying that they are after a residency, at Cream after their MixMag statement that they wanted to start DJing more), as well as Sasha, De Vit, Armand Van Helden, Cox, and of course, our very own Tongy, the line-up speaks for itself.
The only thing I have against this club is that the beginning of the night invariably involves queueing in the Liverpool nighttime 'climate' for a good half an hour to an hour, (in all the times I have been there, it has never opened at the advertised 9:30pm) But I would still say this is well worth the wait, and personally I would wait for weeks if it meant I could have half the atmosphere you get in Cream and the queuing just adds to the anticipation, from the outside you can hear the banging drone of them firing up the Phazon before they even let the punters in. The door staff, although daunting at first, are friendly and helpful, and when you finally get in you feel safe in the knowledge that the club has a constant first aid service linked closely with the cities hospital.
Nation also runs Full On, an all nighter (10pm - 6am) on Friday nights, I have never been to a Full On, but I have heard that it is just as good as Cream, with the same atmosphere but running all night, if you can handle it. Residents include Judge Jules, Tony De Vit and Tall Paul with numerous other guests regularly visiting to make it a totally slamming night.

SuperSonic BoomRoom, Zzub Club, Liverpool City Centre, Every Saturday night (9:30pm - 5am) Forgotten how much, free before 11 pm.
I very rarely visit any other clubs in Liverpool (after reading my review of Cream, you can see why), but on this occasion I decided to try the Zzub club. This club is a totally different kettle of fish. For a start its door policy is a lot more relaxed, with your usual door security, but nothing special there. From outside, the club looks pretty normal, but on entering, you are transported to a magical fluffy, soft, padded, bright world (no I wasn't taking anything, but you feel like you have). Everything, it seems is padded (very useful later on in the night when you are starting to flag and you wanna just reach out and grab hold of something). The dance floor is quite small, but is layered, with four (I think) cages facing each other in a square on the floor. This makes for a very confusing experience. The music policy is basically thumping commercial house, although it does tend to get a bit cheesy, but that's cool if you are into that sort of thing (Camisra, Porn Kings, etc.. You get the idea). It also seems that everywhere you look there is a bar, a clever positioning strategy to get you buying as many drinks as possible (obviously!).
In general, I had a truly amazing night out, and I highly recommend it if you want a cheaper night out than Cream (before 11pm it is free to get in which is another bonus, and the atmosphere really starts to get going by about 11:30pm so it's not much of a wait).
