The reason for this is because items in that category are not replaceable, upgradable, and do not outdate themselves. This is why Collectibles and Other items do go up. Computers, stereos, beds, couches, and sports equipment all wear out over time. Therefore, their values decrease.
It doesn’t matter how well the owners care for the items that they own. The point is that over a year’s time, the product will begin to fail or not produce the original task it did previously.
The chart was calculated in terms of total period of ownership because this is the simplest measurement we can use to determine the worth of the particular product.
