How is
it that a person can destroy another person's life, without a second thought
about it?
Why is
it that we must live with vioence, crime, hatred, racism, monarchies, and
other stuff?
I was fortunate
enough to be able to travel to Brazil and Denmark in the summer of 1997.
These two countries, along with the United States where i live, are as
different as night and day. They represent the differences of class and
substance. Brazil is a country full of poverty, and a bad government, yet
the people (while some jeer at you) are friendly. Denmark is like a miracle.
Not in one spot is there a homeless person or even dog shit on the sidewalk
!.
It is said
that the United States is a first-world country. When in fact it should
be a second-world country. Between Denmark, Brazil, and the US, Denmark
is the only one that should be even considered a first-world country.
You look
at a country where every person is REQUIRED to learn two languages, where
dogs are allowed EVERYWHERE, where you do not need to be worried that at
any moment you might be dead because of a stray bullet or something, where
the Queen (and the government) help out their countrymen. This is a country
that can and must be a first-world country. This country is Denmark.
Now how
can the United States or Brazil even compare to Denmark?
Why must
citizens of the United States constantly be in fear of being killed at
any moment? Must we live in fear to live in a "free" country?
