HOSTILE "Behind The Eyes"
5 Songs 24 minutes
Hostile are a six piece from Sweden who play a quite melodic heavy metal.
The music is well played with a nice feel to it and some nice guitar work
but where this demo does not grab is the singing. The lyrics are qite
intelligent with some interesting ideas behind them but the singing.....
There are two singers male and female but they dont blend well. The male
voice is a mixture of singing at times of a rock style to a snarly
death metal growl. The female voice is sung more or less the same the whole
way through and does not add to the songs or is it the other way?
The musical content does make up for this though. I belive there is a change
in the singing afoot and the band hope to bring out another demo during the summer.
We will see... The demo is still avaible with a colour inlaycard and lyrics for 5$ from

HOSTILE -"Behind The Eyes" demo '98
This has to be one of the most impressive demos I've heard in this year. It's difficult
to describe this Swedish band, as each song has it's own style, but the main trend is
without a doubt melodic death. As I said, besides the DM tunes you get a real metal
ballad too. I will tell you , this has really harmonic riffs along with great soloing and
alternating vocal styles. The sound is also good and so is the coloured j-card. Fans of
Swedish death must own this 5-tracker. costs 5$, I belive. Fucking great

HOSTILE "BehindThe Eyes"
Third demo (but the only one to be released so far...)recorded by this Swedish six piece
Material is subject to a wide range of signatures. The band evolves in qutie a large array
of influences, ranging from hard rock to more brutal kind of metal musics. Sure there
might be some improvement technical wise but on the other side the band offers quite d
different stuff from what we have the use to receive. On the vocal ground, some grunt
passages are really interesting, Contrasting with a quite musical approach, on the
other hand, the additition of a female singer don't appear as essetial (to keep friendly).
I'm not always toomuch into this kind of musical gathering, but some cool gutiar actions
succeed to attract my attention throughout the five tracks of"Behind The Eyes" (only "Suicide"
appears for me, an insurmountable test). Check it out yourself -G-

HOSTILE "Behind The Eyes" demo -98
Hostile is an allround metal band; but it leans more towards slowish doom, mixed with the
types of riffs often seen from bigger death and thrash bands (i.e.-clean and heavy, chugging,
stop-on-a-dime, hell you know what I mean ha-ha). Hostile is a six member band with two
vocalists. The male mainly sounds like an old bearded pirate - hoase and gruff. His vocals
are done in a kind of half spoken/ half sung manner. The female vocalist, Lina, does mainly
clean vocals. I am pretty sure she does the black metal vox, which are very powerful!.
On the opening track "No life" both vocalists sing simultaneously juxtaposed on top of
each other to a very cool and kind of chilling effect. I feel Hostile probably are not quite
at the level they want to be, but all of the tools are there and this tape showcases the
band beginning to really put those tools together. My fave song on here is the title track,
a really emotional song which has a killer chours that is perfectly in sync with the music.
The forceful and bombastic black metal shrieks on this song are some of the best ever!.
This tape is 5 songs encompassing about 25 minutes and a great fold out colour cover,
Yours for 5$ US world. Did I mention the sweet solos?.

HOSTILE "Behind The Eyes"
This tape is a bit strange! "Behind The Eyes" is already the third demo of HOSTILE, but it's
the first one to see the light of day. This tape was rcorded in the private studio of
WITHOUT GRIEF's vocalist Jonas Granvik, but don't expect melodic death metal here,
althrough the guitar work is often pretty similar to this style. But HOSTILE seem to have
a kind of rock 'n' roll attitude within their music. So the best way to describe the five
songs here is MOTR HEAD meets IN FLAMES or just metal. The music is enjoyable except of the
cheesy "Suicide" and this demo comes with a professional packaging. Available for 5 bucks

HOSTILE "Behind The Eyes"
When a band comes from Falun and have a great recording sound on their demo WITHOUT GREIF's
studio "Rago" comes to my mind, and thats exactly there Hostile has rcorded their demo.
The band says they are playing heavy metal, and I couldn't agree more. With the band members
age in mind (18-20 years) is it really good. Sure it isn't completely tight, but the music
is interesting and the mixed male - female vocals is giving a impressive feeling.
With lyrics containing sorrow, agony and death has Hostile released their third demo,
and as they see themselves as slaves to the music it will be more of them in the future.

HOSTILE "Behind The Eyes"
This band from Falun plays heavy metal that sometimes leans to death metal, and sometimes
the other way. It isn't comletely tight, but keep in mind that the band members only is
18-20 years old so its only to rehersal some more. To have mixed vocals male - female
fits the music well, and the songs are pretty good. If they keep on fighting they will
have a bright future ahead.
