Just a quick note to say that the 13 players who turned up last night put on a great performance.

We lost 3-1 and so are out of the cup, but as everyone who was there can tell you, this was a real team performance with everyone pulling their weight and we put on a brave fight.

Duncan played in goal, he wasn't going to play at all because of an ankle injury but braved the goalkeeping position and did a fabulous job. None of the goals can be blamed on him.

We started with only 10 players, so Shaun P also dressed for the game despite his hamstring injury, and once we stopped giving him balls to chase and gave him balls to feet in the second half, he passed it about beautifully, setting up numerous chances and half chances for others. We got some good crosses in from the right and on another day a couple of them might have been converted into goals.

Jon C scored the goal that pulled us back to 2-1 and we had a couple of other chances to score, The referee didn't give a blatant hand ball in the box which didn't help us, but it was a good game and everybody left the game feeling we'd done well.

I look forward to playing them in the league game in September with a fuller squad.

Yesterdays game came at a price, I would guess Shaun Powell and Duncan are pretty sore today.

Joe Pacitto took a knock and Thomas will miss the rest of the season after twisting his knee. (Get well soon).
