What Is MP3?
MP3 is a audio type format. It compresses *.wav type files and Audio CD type files and still sounds as clear as an Audio CD. The ratio compress of a *.wav to an MP3 1:12. For example, if you have a *.wav file that takes up 45meg of hard disk space and you compress it into MP3 file, you will end up with 4meg of MP3 file and still have the same length and quality sound. This is very handy if you wanted to store some songs on your hard disk and wanted to save some space.
How Can You Encode Your *.wav or Audio CD to *.MP3?
I recommend you use Audiograbber, MP3 Compresser or VED in Windows and L3ENC for Dos. To encode using Audiograbber, you will need an internal codec to encode. Download MP3 Compresser which will have an internal codec. To encode using VED, you will also need to download L3ENC and L3dec which you should copy into your VED setup directory. Also, when encoding choose 44.100hz with stereo because it sounds better! You can download the latest encoders at:

How Can You Decode *.mp3 back to *.wav?
I wouldn't recommend this to you if you don't have a CD-R. If you want to change it for some reason, you can use L3DEC which decodes *.mp3 to *.wav. You can use VED to decode in Windows. Did you know that you can play *.wav on your CD - Player? Why don't you try it out!
