THIS YEAR 9/12/97
Haven't been out in the rain much this year,
Running away always seemed easier when I had the time.
Doorways that were opened for me in times of trouble,
Struggle to stay open as I walk on by.
This year isn't over yet.
It's seen me through it all,
And dragged me through most of it.
Looking back just shouldn't be this hard,
Coming home just can't hurt this much.
I don't even know her anymore,
I've only known her for that short time,
And I can't even tell if I ever really knew her.
There's still the love that I just can't forget
That one name that will always be special to me,
A hidden smile that I'll never forget.
The one name that always takes me home,
Her face that only looks my way in dreams.
