Stations often brought in with DX conditions:
Twin Cities: KARE-NBC (11), KMSP-UPN (9), WFTC-FOX (29) or KMWB-WB (23), KTCI-TPT (17), KVBM-HSN (45), KPXM-PAX (41, from St. Cloud, MN)
Central Minnesota: KCCW-WCCO (12)
Northwestern Wisconsin: WLEF-WPTV (36), WHWC-WPTV (28), W39AF-WPTV (39)
The stations listed above only include the most commonly brought in TV stations. In the typical scenario in a good TV DX season, many more can be brought in. All the stations above are less than 150 miles away. In good conditions, many other stations can be seen from southern MN (includes KYIN-IPTV 24 Mason City, IA) , southeastern WI, and many more from central MN and the Twin Cities area. In a better scenario, stations can be seen from all over Iowa and perhaps South Dakota. In an excellent scenario, stations can be seen from varying places which include Chicago, Nebraska, and Detroit, MI, although this is as not as common.

MORE TO COME ON INDIVIDUAL STATIONS
-KDUL-LP has been delayed 'till June 1, 2000,
due to reception area problems.
-KDUL-LP will launch on May 15, 2000. KDUL-LP
will be the first UPN station in Duluth. This means it will carry
a lot of low-rated shows, some canceled from the "real" big networks like
ABC and NBC, as well as a bunch of wrestling. This is only in the
evening, however. KDUL will also show America One. America
One features old movies and less popular shows, like some family shows.
It also carries Disney1Too. Disney1Too, by it's name, indicates children's
programming, which KDUL-LP will carry. Ryan St. Arnold, a local website
maker and media news provider, says he thinks KDUL-LP won't be that good
after he saw the schedule. KDUL-LP will be on channel 16 on Duluth
cable.
-KDUL-LP will cover most of Duluth with a strong
signal. A weaker but still present signal will extend out into Hermantown
and almost north to Two Harbors, and south below Superior.
-KDUL-LP will have local business auctions.
Advertisements from local businesses will be in the form of 5-minute and
30-second infomercials. Businesses can also get a free Hawaiian vacation
for advertising.
-KQDS-TV 21, Fox, launched on September 1, 1999.
I have a tape of it's launch. KQDS features Fox and Fox Kids, as
well as a lot of syndicated shows. The station features reruns of
the Simpsons twice a weekday with two seperate episodes at 6:30 PM and
10:30 PM, Married With Children twice a row, every weekday, from 9:00 to
10:00 PM, as well as many others, including Newsradio, Full House, Family
Matters (remember "Urkel") and Cops every weeknight. The show also
features the talk shows Ricki Lake and Dr. Joyce Browne. It may also
provide others. KQDS used to have Shop At Home programming and a
call of KNLD, all the way back to 1996, before it upped its power.
-WDSE on channel 8 is the local PBS station,
which is over thirty years old (not new). PBS will probably start
broadcasting digital TV late because it is not rich. WDSE features
typical PBS shows like Newshour and NOVA as well as Minnesota-produced
shows carried on KTCA, KWCM, and other MN public stations.
-Not too long ago, Duluth Datacasting bought
K56HF. K56HF was once used to broadcast pay Showtime programming
for the defunct BEAM TV wireless cable service. The channel line-up
of BEAM is below:
15 Sci-Fi Channel
27 CNN
30 TBS
32 USA Network
36 Discovery Channel
38 Family Channel
56 Showtime
58 TBN-Although not a pay
channel, the antenna improved reception of this low-power station.
60 Nickelodeon/Nick-At-Nite
BEAM TV was transmitted over normal UHF frequencies.
Where I live, a bit outside Duluth, sometimes I could recieve the LP stations
from my room. These LP stations were scrambled but not very well.
Audio was unencrypted. During TV DXing I have also received other
cable stations from Austin, MN and even Iowa City, IA!
-KDLH and KBJR, the two lower-VHF stations in
Duluth both have 24-hour schedules. This makes reception of KIMT-3
Mason City and KAAL-6 Austin, MN very hard.
-If you don't know this yet, you can hear KBJR-6
on 87.7 FM
-Vikings games can be viewed on KQDS-21 FOX.
