Step to the Window
Fate provides what is needed most Effecting Change

"The only way to gain the strength to reach your goal is to surrender a bit of yourself." Laura hated those words, but they had become a mantra for her. They burned her ears as she pushed to finish five miles on her aching muscles.
There was no denying Hall's techniques were paying off. She was down two sizes, and her energy level was so much higher. She made her way along the towpath, plodding steps to complete her assigned task.
He was tough, but she needed that. She smiled at the thought of their very odd relationship. Hall was in charge. Laura wanted it that way. She was a control freak, more used to giving orders than following directions.
She stumbled into the parking lot. "You can be her again, Laura, only better." She could almost hear his voice telling her that. It was getting easier. She wanted to be the fit, supple majorette that went away to college twenty years ago.
She stretched her tired limbs, and stooped low to catch her breath. Her body hadn't meant much in so long, that was really how she got that way. The early
years after law school were just too busy. Then on the bench she learned to hide behind her black robe. Now she was in Congress, with her eye on a Senate seat.
"There really wasn't much difference," she thought. Senate candidates were supposed to look good. "America liked attractive candidates, 'telegenic,' the consultant called it."
Challenging Words

More than anything else, she wanted Hall's approval. She thought of how she reacted to his encouragement. His strong arms around her body as he coached her through her form.
Laura looked forward to the weight workout she would have with him after the afternoon session. The last one was so unsettling for her. She was bench pressing 60 pounds as he spotted her through her final set. Her cheeks flushed as she thought about how she'd stared up at his crotch as she pushed to finish her last three presses.
Laura chuckled as she remembered how she struggled on eight just so he'd step up with his thighs just above her head.
Hall was talented, physiology, anatomy, nutrition, the masters in public health he didn't talk about. Laura was so surprised when he coached her through a movement session at the bar. She remembered the first time he demanded a grand plie from her 40-something body. She protested with her eyes.
"Oh, come now Laura, I would never expect you to do anything I could not do myself. In the evening shadows of the gym he pushed his way through a modern dance routine. He used the music from the aerobics class in the next room to execute a series of plies, entrechats, and flourishes.
His movements were fluid and perfect. His muscled form looked godlike as he moved through the shadows of the glass enclosed studio. "Laura, do not question me, before I turned to competition body building I danced. Of course, I was 40 pounds lighter then. I was with a small troupe from Harlem. We toured a lot."
Laura drove back to the Capitol. She crossed the Pennsylvania Avenue heading to the members' lot by the Rayburn Building. This was not a school girl crush she had on Hall. She wanted him differently. She felt comfortable relinquishing her power and control to him. She felt good about obeying his commands.
Laura glanced at her reflection in the rear-view mirror of her Lexus. Her double chin was fading. She was gaining strength, and reaching her goal. Laura stroked the thinning skin of her neck, and realized she was, in fact, surrendering a bit of herself.

If we work to control
Our Destiny
Wanting More

Laura went through her workout silently. She followed Hall's directions to the letter. She fit into this role with him so well she thought. Her freedom and willingness to obey surprised her as the end of the session neared. Submission to his will aroused her. The contrasts with the rest of her life were striking.
"That's it for today Laura!" Hall turned to walk back toward his office. "Hall, I have to tell you something." Laura's voice was nervous but insistent. Hall motioned for her to join him in his office.
He leaned against his desk, "Now, what's on your mind?" Laura's strongpoint was oratory. Her sessions in trial court, and her speeches on the House floor had always been full of persuasive hyperbole. She sounded like a nervous child when she replied. "I'm sorry Hall, I failed you today."
Hall looked at her calmly, "Yes, go ahead." Laura breathed deeply, "Uh, uh, it was just so good Hall." There was a pause, "The chicken Florentine, I couldn't pass it up."
Laura's hot pink spandex biker shorts were stained with the sweat of a hard workout. Her dark skin shined, from the wetness of exertion. The black and pink crop top covered full breasts that still heaved from breathlessness.
Hall's mouth twisted in frustration. "Why do we waste our time Laura? You must stick to our plan to get results." He sighed deeply, "What should we do about this?"
Laura responded with nervous laughter, "Hall please, uh, punish me."
