Matchbox 20 at their New Year's Eve Performance in Houston, Texas
All I can say is it was AWESOME!! New Years Eve, 20,000 people in attendance at an outdoor party in Downtown Houston. I arrived early to guarantee that I would be as close to Matchbox 20 as possible. As you can see from the above picture, I succeeded!!!
The opening performance was also the final performance of JACKOPIERCE. They were in perfect form. For their last song, they had a surprise guest. Rob Thomas came out and sang with the band. When it was over, it was very emotional. The guys from the two bands have become close friends over the years. When Rob walked out, the guy that was standing next to me said "Hey, he was in the elevator with me at the hotel. I asked him if he was going to the concert tonight, and he kinda laughed and said yes!" God, I wish I had been in that elevator!!
Then, the moment I had awaited for so long. Matchbox 20!!! They opened with LONG DAY. It was powerful!! This was worth the wait!! To say the least, the crowd was energized by the enthusiastic performance.
They treated us to some NEW music. Rob said it was for those of us who were "sick as shit" of listening to their CD. It'll never happen!!
Kyle ROCKS, but he didn't HANG :-(
I was quite disappointed that they didn't perform my favorite song,HANG!! I was looking forward to hearing and seeing Kyle perform live!!
The one most shocking thing, though, was when Kyle and Rob lit up cigarettes on stage! I was totally blown away!! With their golden voices, that they would assault those voices like that really surprised me.
