October 2 - WU-TANG BALANCES FILM, CHARITY & PHOTOGRAPH
The Wu-Tang Clan may not have a release out under that banner in the near future, but members of that rap collective are currently working feverishly on film
projects, charity events, and no less than seven solo albums.
Wu-Tang 's Raekwon and Wu-producer Power will join Ben Stiller, Robert Downey, Jr.,
Brooke Shields, and Bijoux Phillips in the coming of age drama "Black & White."The film, written and directed by James Toback ("Two Girls And A Guy"), is the story of a group of privileged white Manhattan teenagers who follow and try to emulate a group of urban hip-hop teenagers.
"Black & White" is an improvisational project that will be shot primarily in
story outline form. Boxer Mike Tyson, "Boogie Nights" director Paul Thomas Anderson, and hip-hop video king Hype Williams will also make cameo appearances in the film, which starts shooting in October in New York.
The film will be out sometime next year via Palm Pictures.The Wu-Tang Clan will also be involved in a fund-raiser for the Wu-Charitable Foundation in New York on October 24. They're hosting a black-tie dinner at the Marriott in Manhattan to help raise money for a
computer literacy program in the Park Hills area of Staten Island, where
the Wu-Tang Clan members call home.
The wutang clan will also take part in a photo involving all major hiphop artist later this year.
