Metallica Facts

What exactly is the cover of Load supposed to be? The image is a photograph called Blood and Semen III done by Anrdes Serrano. It was done by mixing bovine blood and the artist's own semen between two sheets of plexiglass. Kirk discovered the photo while looking through a collection of the artist's work at a bookstore.

On Load, everything Kirk plays is on the right speaker while everything James plays is on the left. Now you can tell who's soloing!

How did James get burned at the Montreal show (Aug. 8, 1992)? The band was informed of a pyro change:pyro would be ignited along the "wings" of the stage during "Fade To Black." The pyro-tech however, failed to tell the band that new pyro would be going along with the old pyro.Assuming that the new pyro canceled out the previous pyro, Jameswas standing exactly where the old pyro occurred when a 12-foot flame was ignited, severely burning the left side of his body.

Kirk's tattoo was a present to himself for Christmas 1995. It reads: "Born in SF 11-18-62." It's wrapped around his belly button.

Jason's brother, Tim Newsted, teaches elementary school.

In case you're confused on old articles about Load, and you read some titles that are not on it,this should make it clear "Hero of the Day" = 'Mouldy' "Until It Sleeps" = 'F.O.B.D.' [read: Fell on Black Days] "Cure" = 'Believe'

Lars calls the new single Until It Sleeps,"Until It Puts me to Sleep"

"King Nothing" will be the next single...

Who or what is Ktulu? Ktulu is a tentacled faced creature that lies dormant on the bottom of the ocean awaiting the call to awaken from his followers, created by H.P. Lovecraft and actually spelled Cthulu.

Where is Cliff buried? Cliff's ashes were spread at various points around the bay area, including the Maxwell Ranch House area.

3)How did Lars and James first meet?
Lars had taken out an ad in a newspaper called the Recycler, saying he

Shortly after, Lars went to England to follow his favorite band,

Brian Slagel's "Metal Massacre" album. Using this as bait, he talked
