Music Freeware Sites

Spectrogram              This program will record any file coming into from your computer via your line input or what's
coming from the internet. Records as one large wave file, start to finish. A little hard to figure
out at first but once you get the hang of it, you can record from just about any source that you
can think of. NOTE!!! If you do use this program, be sure to unplug your microphone!!!! I found
that out real quick and ruined a 90 minute recording session!!!! Luckily it was of a video that I
own and could do it again.

Wave Splitter             Now that you have that large wave file sitting on your hard drive, use Wave Splitter to break it
down into individual tracks. Very simple to use. Just select the section you want, give it a name,
and this program will do the rest.

MPEG Suite 2001        A nice little MP3 encoder/decoder utility. Revised edition now Windows 2000 & XP compatible

mkw Audio                  The mkw Audio Compression Tool (mkwACT) is a free Windows® 95/98/Me and 2000/NT
Compression Tool      program created for the easy and convenient conversion of Wav audio files to and from Shorten
(SHN), a lossless compression format. mkwACT is simply the easiest utility for compressing
and decompressing Shorten files and for checking and creating MD5 sum check signatures.
SHN, along with APE (below), is fast becoming the format of choice when FTP sharing using
broadband services as the decompressed wav file is identical to the original Wav from which
                                      it came from.

Monkey's Audio          Another lossless audio compression and decompression utility that is gaining in popularity
in the trading circles. Using the APE file extention, Monkey's Audio assures a decompressed
Wav file that is identical to the original. Using it's own version of sum checking, it can quickly
detect if a transfer is okay or corrupt. A Winamp plug in is available at the site if you prefer to
leave your files compressed. It's an excellent format that I highly recommend as it does compress
a little tighter than shn, making it very useful in the trading circles. Normally you can place two
compressed albums on one CD making for larger trades using less postage.

The Music                 Keep track of all your CDs, Cassettes, LPs, and Videos with this cataloging system. Requires
Database                   VB6 Runtime which is available at the site. Also may require a couple of DLL files that doesn't
seemed to be included in either program. Just drop me an e-mail and I'll send the files to you.
Just move them to your Windows Folder and it will work fine after that.
