Nashville Concert Review
This is my concert Review from the Matchbox Twenty Nashville show 4/14/01. Sorry it is so long.

The photo shoot
My sister (who is not a matchbox twenty fan, but rode along to see Nashville) and I arrived at the Gaylord Entertainment Center (GEC) around 2 p.m. and I went and picked up my tickets. I had 4th row on Kyle's side, so I was quite excited. We then began to walk around the GEC when I noticed a bunch of people standing over this ledge. My sister urged me to go over there. I met up with MBTwentyFan, met Sivan, brendab426 and other GDers. I found out matchbox twenty were doing a photo shoot from the parking garage (about a story or 2 up). I lined up with the rest of the people and looked over the ledge and began taking pictures. The guys looked really good. Paul was wearing a white t-shirt for awhile but then put on black to match the rest of the band. However, Rob was the only one wearing navy blue. He was wearing a navy blue t-shirt and those polyester like blue fitted pants. The guys would wave or talk up to us every once in awhile. We were allowed to be there as long as we did not make any noise. Adam even made a joke about how they were going to return to Nashville Monday night for a night shoot and we all could show if we wanted to see more. LOL
Anyway, the guys moved down to where they were directly in front of me. I looked down and Rob looked up, so I smiled and lifted my hand to wave to him and he looked up at me and gave me this big cheesy grin. It was so cute, so when he looked down, I asked my sister if she just saw that and she did, so I knew he was smiling at me. WOO HOO!
Anyway, the guys finished the shoot around 4 p.m. and didn't come up, but they waved to us as they left. I then went back to the hotel for about an hour or so and left back to the GEC.

The Concert
We took our seats and 4th row was awesome. I was basically a little to the left of Kyle, but all in all I had great seats. Jana00 and I were directly in front of Comfy and her husband and we were sitting next to redmansrun (nice meeting you by the way red. You were so nice!)

Lifehouse took the stage. They keep getting better and better. I had this "Lifehouse ROCKS!" sign that I held up during most of their sets. Jana00, comfy and I were dancing along with them. Then between sets, we went and I had my "Lifehouse ROCKS!" sign autographed since I had the liner notes signed in St. Louis. I told Jason they were going to be huge and how great they were. They are so nice and very gracious towards fans. I hope I get to see them again.

Then Everclear took the stage. I am now a HUGE everclear fan. I was before, but I love them even more. I kept getting lots of eye contact from Art. At one point, during "Santa monica" he had stopped singing, looked at me and I was singing to him, and he pointed at me a few times. Jana tapped me on the arm once and said, "He is looking at you" and I was like "I know. I'm singing to him." Art was really cool. I didn't get to hear the insulting Art that a few matchbox twenty fans heard at the beginning of the show, so Art is still cool to me. Anyway, they finished up and I waited anxiously for matchbox twenty.

Matchbox twenty took the stage and they are again awesome. They had a shorter set in Nashville and ended with "Push" rather than "Black and White People" but that was still cool. Rob sang "Time after Time". Most of the guys saw my sign "Matchbox twenty The key to my heart and soul". Then at one point Rob pointed in the direction of Jana, Comfy, and me and said, "these are the matchbox twenty fans" so we all hooted and hollared. Then when Rob announced Paul's name I held up my "Paul - May I have a drumstick PLEASE!!" and so after the show he got down from his drumset and walked over and read my sign. He then threw the drumstick right at me, but it hit my sign and this jerk next to me grabbed. I tried to be rational, so I said, "excuse me. I had this sign and everything for Paul and he threw that drumstick to me". Anyway, the jerk turned around and he said, "You should have tried to catch it", so I said, "I did and for one thing you are taller than me" so the jerk rolled his eyes and turned away from me. Well, then I started bitching calling him incredibly rude. Just to note: If Jana or anyone around me, who had a sign for a drumstick, Pal threw it and I caught it, I would have given it to her/them because Paul was intending to throw it at me and true fans respect each other. Well, these really cool, nice fans in front of me turned around and saw what went down and all said how rude it was that this guy wouldn't give me the drumstick that I should have gotten. Anyway, a lot of people saw what happened and thought it was rude because they saw Paul read my sign and throw it directly at me and someone else took it. Then the jerk kept tapping me on the shoulder with the drumstick as we were leaving our seats. I wanted to turn around and whack him anywhere and take back that drumstick, but I am a nice person and not violent. I bitched, but I couldn't hurt anyone for a drumstick. At least I have to think that Paul saw my sign and tried to get the drumstick for me. THANKS PAUL!! YOU ROCK!.
Anyway, we then went to the back and waited with other GDers and fans for the busses, but the busses just left and kept going.
Afterthoughts
My sister and I ate at the Hard Rock on Sunday and I talked to the host a moment and he was saying he saw them when they were Tabitha's Secret, so that was cool. It was a great show, even though I didn't get a drumstick. It was still cool and almost every one of my pictures turned out.
My sister and I then went to Opry Mills and I almost saw "All Access". There is no IMAX near me in St. Louis, but I was really low on funds by then, so I couldn't go to it. Plus, I had class on Monday and we had a 4 hour drive ahead of us and I didn't want to get home too late, so I didn't go. BOO HOO! I wanted to see it though and maybe I still can someway or another. Since Nashville isn't that far away, I could logically go for another weekend soon.
