Savage Garden Concert Reviews
June 28, 1998: Chicago, Illinois: B96 Radio Show

The strangest act on the bill was Savage Garden,
an Australian teenybopper duo that's done wonders for cherry cola while
scoring huge pop hits with ``Truly Madly Deeply'' and ``I Want You.''
Singer Darren Hayes and guitarist/keyboardist Daniel
Jones were joined by five other musicians; Savage Garden was the only act
that attempted anything unique. Besides delivering the hits, they played
an odd cover of Joan Osborne's ``One of Us'' and jammed on Nirvana's ``Smells
Like Teen Spirit.''
The latter was not unlike hearing the Osmonds cover
the Sex Pistols.
While B-96 can be commended for delivering the chart
toppers to its audience, there were two annoyingly long delays in the concert:
an hour break after Mase's set, and 80 minutes between Savage Garden and
Boyz II Men.
