Paul Hewson was born on May 10, 1960 in
Rotunda Hospital in Dublin, Ireland. Paul was the second son of
Bobby and Iris Hewson, Bobby was catholic, and Iris attended to
the Protestant church. After attending to school, Paul played in
the streets and visited frequently his neighbours' home, the
Rowen, where he listens how the father discuss about politics and
religion with his children, thing that could hardly happen in his
house. In 1971, Paul starts to attend a totally protestant
school. Since he can't work at school, he can't attend to the
1972 term; in that same year Paul starts in Mount Temple, a
radical, tolerant and mixed school talking about sex and
religions. There is where he finds freedom, and immediately he
becomes friend of the most distinguished people at school. He
meets Zandra Laing, his first formal girlfriend and establishes a
very close relationship with Meauve O' Reagan, an elegant girl
and true confident for him, afterwards he meets Alison, to whom
he married. On September 10, 1974 Iris Hewson dies of a brain
haemorrhage four days after collapsing at her own father's
funeral. Their house becomes like a deep hole and Paul only finds
consolation in the streets with Meauve. In 1976, Paul sees a
thing named Bono Vox in a store, which means "good
voice" in latin, and decides to adopt that name. He responds
to Larry Mullen Jr.'s about starting a rock band, they became U2
and you know what happened after that ....
