"If you were a movie mogul casting a college musical, it would be difficult to find teen-appeal stars who are not only great performers on record, but among the select few who can also emote. That's just what producers Alex Alexander and June Starr have accomplished via "C'mon, Let's Live A Little,' AllStar Production for Paramount Pictures release.
By blending the many faceted talents of Bobby Vee, Jackie DeShannon and Eddie Rodges with a truly refreshing score and mixing well with superb direction by David Butler, veteran of numerous big movie musicals, they have come up with all of ingredients for a super motion picture.
The original tunes, penned by Don Crawford and orchestrated by Don Ralke, are as fresh as the first day of spring and are performed lovingly by the principals. Additionally, there is the introduction of a petite 'bundle of dynamite,' Suzie Kaye, a stunning performance by Ethel Smith and the motion picture debut of The Pair.

'C'mon, Let's Live A Little' also features many of Hollywood's most talented youngsters, including John Ireland Jr., Jill Banner, Mark Evans, Joy Tobin and Kim Carnes. There's also an appearrance by Patsy Kelly and a 'cameo' role by baseball's Bo Belinsky. Every once in a while, amidst a rash of 'teen flicks,' a real winner comes along. 'C'mon, Let's Live A Little' is definitely the 'Fair Lady' of the crop!"

(review from the back cover LP)
"In this silly 1960s campus drama, pop singer Vee is a backwoods folksinger who wins a scholarship to a small college after saving the dean's daughther, DeShannon, from a car accident. When the local radical , Ireland Jr., uses him as a way to get the students to attend his free speech rally, Vee punches the troublemaker in the nose and lets the kindly dean tell the student body that they don't need any of those silly ideas about freedom. The low-grade pop tunes can't help his bargain-basement look at youthful ideals."

"Folk singer Vee enrolls in college, romances DeShannon, is manipulated by student radical Ireland. Perfectly awful. Techniscope. BOMB.
(From Leonard Maltin's Movie & Video Guide).
"This drama centers on life in a small college. The hero is a folk singer from the backwoods. Because he saved the dean's daughter from a car accident, he received a scholarship. The school rebel uses the folk singer to entice students into attending his rally on free speech. The folk singer rallies back and punches the radical in the nose. He then allows the dean to tell the student body the reasons why they don't need more radical ideas concerning freedom."
