Exploring
the web makes for great family time with your little ones as you cruise
the net together checking out your favorite sites and researching various
topics. There are so many excellent links for kids out there, but remember
that it's best to go surfing with them instead of letting them loose on
their own. There is a rating selector in Microsoft's Internet Explorer
(which I have set, but doesn't work if the page maker doesn't rate the
site). There is also software available on the net, such as We-Blocker(Free),
Cyber Patrol, Cybersitter, Cyber Snoop, Net Nanny, SurfWatch, X-Stop,Cyber-Nanny
and a few others that will help. You also may want to consider a filtered
Internet service like www.Cleanweb.net,or
see if your current ISP offers Internet filtering that may help prevent
our little ones from stumbling onto some of the indecent sights on the
World Wide Web. There has been some informative shows about the dangers
of allowing children and teens to surf the internet unsupervised. Some
of the shows emphasize the danger of chatrooms and lonely kids who want
attention and may go to chatrooms to get it, next thing could be phone
contacts, then probable meeting the mysterious one in person...which has
had some serious implications in some cases. God has not given a spirit
of fear, but of power and a sound mind. We have a sound mind to make quality
decisions regarding our children. Unless you have an ISP or software that
filters out objectionable sites 100% effectively, it is best to not to
allow our kids to surf without adult supervision.
