AF= well al i was bored and really wanted to record ichabods crane
AC= well okay thats a good excuse

MM- so guys.. i got some questions to ask.. okie.. here we go..how did shoeman start out? like where did the name originate?

AF- al you wanna take this one?

AC- yea ok.. well. we went to A&W and me, john and andy just sat there.. i think it was the 18th of november.. we just thought up a name.. and shoeman had a ring to it.. sometimes bands have names where you know what kind of music they play..like hootie and the blowfish.. you KNOW its going to be sickening- deaf pop music. Shoeman doesnt necessarily sound like anything, no real placement in the industry. I like the thought of being anonymous until you hear us.

MM- howabout this question.. what cd changed your perception of music? and why?

AF- well there's a couple for me.. 'the new duncan imperials.. hanky panky parley voo' for the way they percieve r+r as fun and a thing for pleasure,not a job necessarily..
spookey ruben's 'modes of transportation vol. 1' and chixdiggit also.. for the same reasons..

AC-actually, weezer's debut.. it can be emotional w/o turning into a crappy rod stewart love ballad. ive only really got into music about a year and a half ago, and siamese dream [sp] is what got me into music alot.

JD- i want a chance to answer some fukkin questions for chrissake! mmm lesse i figger.. radiohead - the bends, cause it showed me there was more to music than 'brang brang glagh' [making distorted guitar noises with his mouth]

MM-what does music do for you? like on what sort of emotional level.. ?

AF- all music is on an emotional scale for me.. music is what i am.. like for instance.. NiN gets me feeling better/worse depending on my mood.. veruca salt, chixdiggit, foo fighters, spookey ruben make me enjoy myself.. then theres bands like collective soul that i would describe as 'sitting in your house @ 3pm on a sunday with nothing to do music'.. hanson would be a band that i would get mad at... see where im getting?

MM- so then backstreet boys and rap and hootie.. where would that fit?

AC- martyr.. didnt you hear the man? that would fit all in the same place.. where the shit hits the fan.. when you throw your radio out the window.. its all crap. course, they probably think the same as us.. whatever.. rap is dumb.. its so repetitive. and crap.. to me music is all about integrity.. either you have it or you dont. and we sure do have it!

JD- umm whats the question? i think i missed something.. [looking around the room] hey? hey? hello?

MM-what was the first real shoeman song? like one that you could play.. jam on for like 5 minutes?

AF,AC- Van Halen!

AF- you know that song where in the video that kid is in jail.. and eddie is like dressed up as a con.. and hes got a goatee and a fruity.. uh.. a fruity.. god what does his hair look like?

AC- oh yea that hair.. sheeit.. i cant remember..

AF- damnit! that was the time EVH was like NOT himself.. he looked so different from when [david lee] Roth was with him.. that 80's look so perfected.. anyways.. the song..was with samm hagar.. the lyrics were like "its okay..blabla... itsallright... something.. everything" god.. its like a 3 chord slow progression..

MM- Andy what was the first full song you could play on guitar and sing?

AF- ironic.. about a girl.[nirvana]. the bleach version... when i started playing guitar 4 years ago, i didnt know chords.. i played along with peoples voices.. then i took a course in school in gr. 10, and learned all i needed, then taught myself.

MM-what about you al? and John?

AC-drums.. first song.. i dont practice songs i try to make my own rhythms... i tried today [sp] the first time i picked up sticks but failed miserably

JD- hmm guitar? ahh christ.. all i want is you by u2..

MM- have yo ever got into any 'cat fights' [question by marie]?

AF-nope not yet..i dont think [watching john and al have a 'ufc' match behind him]

MM-what are your plans for the future[question by chuck]?

AC- well.. we want to do something with shoeman.. not be a nobody

AF-[cutting off al before he can continue] yea.. sometimes i feel we're going back-asswards.. we're in the middle of figuring out what the hell is up.. like..

AC- we just want to have a hell of alot of fun!

AF- actually al im in it for the moolah [smiling]

AC-yea you know what? i'm already planning to leave the band.. [jokingly laughing] im going to do a solo project.. ill call it 'alancurran and the simblz.'

JD- hehe yea my band is called the soles of our lives!

AF- yea and ill end up overdosing at 27 [lauging]

AC- [laughing] ill be the next dave grohl

AF- what im stuck with Kurt?

AC- hell yea you get all the talent bitch

AF- i can live with that

JD- i cant! im the one with talent here!

MM- okay.. what prompted you guys to become a band[q by @li]?

AF- we were bored and i was lonely

JD- i was homeless.. and un-happy

AC- yea you were homeless.. i basically was bored of tv so i needed something to do.. well.. keep me occupied till south park came on

MM- Are you heartbroken that Ed Sullivan is off the air? do you think you will make any $$$?[q by ali]

AC- definately.. Ed was so cool.. i dont think we'll make $$.. itd be nice, but..

JD- im shocked and utterly destroyed about Ed. no $$ for me. hell no!

AF- but its fun.. BTW who is ed sullivan?

MM-where did all you guys meet?[q by chuck]

AC- thats private bitchface!

JD- known al for years.. met andy thru some punk

AF- to quote spookey ruben-a cement box.. i met al thru some freak named john.. i stayed at johns house the first time i went over.. jess introduced me to kent and uh i met myself early on..

MM- do you think your talents are going to waste?

AF- yea.. sometimes.. when i sit at home all the time with nothing to do.. and i feel useless..like it will all just slip away

JD-talents!!!!!!!! [laughing wholeheartedly]

AC- sometimes i think that theres more to music than 4/4 time, and i wish that this band will try different stuff..

MM- do you think you will be a complete waste in 5 years... do you ever think 'bout someone killing you before you express want you feel you need to..[qs by sammi]

AC- i cant sing.. so i let my drums do the talkin.. and i got a lot to say

AF- well.. 5 years.. ill be big and famous.. and yes.. i do get scared... but then i got the rest of shoeman to give my lyrics to..and they will hopefully like you know.. let everyone into my mind..

JD-yes.. no.. south..
