Nirvana was a three piece band including Kurt Cobain (vocals and guitar), Dave Grohl (drums) and Kris Novoselic (bass) who formed on September 25th 1990.They released their first album with DGC records in the year 1991, and called it Nevermind, This album was a huge hit all over the world. It was certified as a gold record just over a month after it was released. Smells Like Teen Spirit was one of their most famous songs and was hailed as the anthem for a generation. Nevermind hit number one on Janurary 11th 1992 on the Billboard 200 chart. In April 1992 Nirvana appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine. On December 15th 1992 Nirvana released their second album named Incesticide which went gold the following spring.They then released another record named Utero on September 21st 1993. By this time Nirvana had toured world wide and had become a house hold name. But then on April 8th 1994 Kurt Cobian was found dead of a self inflicted gun wound to the head..... The band still carried on for a while after Kurts death by releasing anthor one of thier albums in October 1st 1996 but after that Dave went on to join the Foo Fighters and Nirvana was no more....
