GOT THE LIFE RELEASED IN UK - KERRANG FIVE K REVIEW!
The new single "Got The Life" was released on Monday 10th in the UK.
Check out the review from Kerrang! magazine, rating it a maximum "KKKKK" -
essential.
"Wa-hey! And they're off. The up-tempo "Got The Life" is the most
accessible thing Korn have laid to rest since "A.D.I.D.A.S.", kicking off with
an unusual (for them) melodic guitar line. Then Jonathan Davis is off ranting
in that beautifully schizoid manner, underpinned by a typically furious Fieldy
bass line. Besides a riotous refrain, we also get a welcome dose of Davis'
patented "Bill And Ben The Flower Pot Men" -style Korn babble. Marvelous
stuff.
And the surprise is that remixes are pretty good, too. The "Dose
Woollyback" mix may have a f**king stupid name, but it kicks like no other
re-run in recent memory."
KORN WANTS YOU!
Instead of simply releasing their much anticipated third album, Follow
the Leader on August 18, KORN are taking it straight to the kids.
Designed like a whirlwind political campaign tour, "KORN Kampaign `98" will
bring the guys -- Jonathan Davis (vocals), Fieldy (bass), James "Munky"
Shaffer (guitars), Brian "Head" Welch (guitars) and David (drums)--all over
North America to spread the gospel of their irreverently named "Family Values"
platform to hordes of fans at special "fan conferences" that are being organized
at every stop along the tour route.
Korn will hit the "Kampaign" trail in Los Angeles on Monday, August 17
before boarding a specially chartered jet, taking them to record stores in such
cities as Orange County, San Francisco, Seattle, Minneapolis, Chicago,
Detroit, Philadelphia, Boston, New York City, Toronto, Atlanta, Dallas
and Phoenix. That's where they'll be talking to fans and answering all their
questions. Each appearance is sure to be an event in its own right, with special
guest appearances currently being lined-up with local celebrities, star athletes,
fellow music artists, and even marching bands and cheerleading squads.
GERMANY'S ELECTRIFYING RAMMSTEIN JOINS "FAMILY VALUES" TOUR
The "Family Values" tour--with Korn, Ice Cube, Limp
Bizkit and Orgy -- doesn't even roll out until late
September, and it's already made a move for the
better.
Rob Zombie, originally announced as part of the line-up, has
been removed from the bill. Now in his place is Germany's
electrifying Rammstein, who are receiving huge attention for
their Sehnsucht album (which jumps 20 spots to #60 on
Billboard's "Top 200 Albums" chart next week) and for their
provocative live shows. There is also a great mutual love and respect between
Rammstein and Korn. Rammstein did mixes on the Korn track "Good God"
from their last album and will be working with Korn on a remix from their
upcoming album, Follow The Leader. It is also expected that Rammstein will
be joining Korn and other "Family Values" artists onstage at the shows.
Clearly, Rammstein are part of the family spirit that is the
driving force on the tour. Beyond Korn's recent and
upcoming work with Rammstein, Korn plays on at least
two songs from Ice Cube's upcoming album, while Ice
Cube raps on a track from Korn's forthcoming disc. Limp
Bizkit covers Ice Cube in their live show, and the group's
lead singer, Fred Durst, raps on a song from Korn's
next album. ORGY will soon release their debut album on
Korn's record label, Elementree Records.
