A little about me.

So you wanted to know more about me, well here we go (and I just can't be brief, so consider yourself warned, hehehe)

I'm 23 years old, and as most of you have already guessed, my name is Lars. I live in Ballerup. It's a city with a population of approx. 50.000, it's near Copenhagen (about 15 km away). My birthday is December 18th (if anyone should feel a desire to make me happy and send me a greeting, or maybe something better :-). I have just spent the last 18 months studying electronics here in Ballerup at Metalindustriens Fagskole, to become an electronic-technician. I have graduated as an electronic-technician june 19th '98, and is now searching for a job.

What I do in my sparetime.

I spend some of my sparetime (ok, alot then! hehehe) on IRC. I can often be found at the undernet channels #Danmark and ofcourse #Danish. My favorit IRC-client is mIRC. On IRC I usually use the nick firefight.

I also go fishing for rainbow trout in put'n'take lakes, whenever the weather and my time allows it.

And I do like to watch television. My favorits at the moment are X-files,Millennium and New york blues...(and ehmm... MTV ;o)

And then I listen to alot of music. No music, no life! My taste in music is VERY broad. I like to listen to everything from techno and heavymetall to pop and ballads. In my CD collection you can find among others: Ac/Dc, Aerosmith, Faith No More, Marilyn Manson, Nirvana, Guns'n'Roses, Smashing Pumpkins, Prodigy, Apollo440, Antiloop, Goon, Scooter, Sort Sol, Prince, Nenneh Cherry, Björk, Tori Amos, Nick Cave, The Bangles plus some compilations and soundtracks. I am always open for new musical inputs, no matter how far from the danish mainstream music it may be, the further the better. Actually all music has my interrest, in these days it's the electronic music that has caught my attention (dance-techno and the likes). Allthough I've recently "discovered" the genius Smashing Pumpkins. It was after a great concert in the Tivoli Gardens May 26th '98 I just had to hear more of them.

And here's another picture of me.

Here's a picture of me by a put'n'take lake.

Here's a (modified) picture of me in a firesuit.

Here's a picture of my little green friends. (hehehe)

This is me and my friend from school (his name is Peter) in our native E-nerd environment :o)

A little about my background.

I began in the public school in August 1982 here in Ballerup on Grantofteskolen. I finished 10th grade there in June 1992. August 1992 I started HTX (a technical college) on Metalindustriens Fagskole in Ballerup, first on 2nd schoolperiod that was required at the time, and then 2 years on the Electronics-branch. I finished that in December 1994 with english and electro-technic on highest level (A-level). August 1995 I began to do my military service in The Royal Danish Civildefence (it's a no-violence, no weapon carrying organisation), at the rescue-center for south Sealand (danish abrevation: BRCSS) in Neastved (a city in the southern Sealand). It's one of seven centers spread throughout the country. It took 6 months, where I amongst other things got trained to be a firefighter and trained in performing first-aid during disasters. The first 3 months were basic training where I got trained to work on the emergency fire turn-out. This is because that the "normal" firebrigade can call in the Civildefence to assist if they find it nessesary. What the Civildefence has to offer the firebrigade is mainly manpower (the Civildefence always move out with 15 men) and more powerful equipment (i.e. larger firehoses, in large quanteties, and extra pumps). The last 3 months was the specialized training, where I was trained to perform the wartime assignments that I could be put on, during a mobilization of troops. In the specialized training there were made 3 platoons, a rescue-platoon, a fire-platoon and a signal/special-platoon. I was put in the signal/special-platoon. A signal/special-platoon is, as the name hints, special compared to the other two platoons. For the first there's only 12 men in it, where there's 30-40 men in each of the other platoons. For the second there's 6 squadleaders, which means that a specialsquad only consists of 2 men, where in the other platoons the squads are somewhat larger. The tasks of a signal/special-platoon is actually all the tasks that doesn't normally fall under the area of fire and rescue. This can be:
Search for and clearing of unexploded ammunition and mines.
To lead the way for the motor convoy.
To establish advanced commandposts in the field.
Make calculations of the fallout-area, if nuclear or chemicalweapons has been used.
Measure the radiation levels in the radioactive fallout-area.
Maintain communication between the platoons and the main commandbunker.
And all other assignments that might come up in a wartime scenario.

I've heard that the new rules means only 3 months duty in The Defence... If anyone has any information on these new rules, drop me a mail, pleaseee :)

I liked the 6 months in the Civildefence, it was a much needed break from going to school. This is also why I choose the name firefight as my IRC-nick. I finished my time in the Civildefence January 30th 1996. Then I was supposed to carry on with my final education, but as so many other people I didn't know what to choose. Then I found the electronic-technician education, that appeared to be broad and gave access to many different types of jobs. But to get accepted into the education I needed 12 months of relevant job experience, that I didn't have at the time. I then started to search for companies that would take me in for a 12 month trainee period. I was so lucky to get positive respons on the second application I wrote. So March 1996 I started at Lohse Electronics. It's a tiny company from Maaloev, a town 5-6 km from Ballerup. The environment there suited me great, I fell right in. Because there only were 6 employed there at the time, we soon got to know each other well. What we produced most of there was systems for demonstration of different audio/visuel products, mainly car-stereo but also walkmen, discmen, videos, camcorders and surround sound systems. Most of the work was done in the workshop in Maaloev, but I also got to go out and help set up some really big demo-systems. I.e the car-stereo room in Electronic World (it's a BIG radio/tv store in Taastrup, near Copenhagen) and all the car-stereo stands in Electric City (another BIG radio/tv store in Taastrup), plus some video demo-systems and more. Another thing we produced was CD listening stands, of the companys own design (as was most of the other products), that was set up in musicstores so the customer could listen to the current top-20 albumlist. No project (almost no project) was too small to be started, if a customer had any special wishes. This is the stenght of a small company like this, and it's one of the things that did that the work there never was the same day after day. Eventhough I liked working at Lohse Electronics, I had to start my final education. I then started on the electronic-technician education in January 1997, and I'm going to finish it on June 19th '98. As of november 2nd. I'm working as a test engineer at Nokia Mobile Phones A/S, a grrreat job ;-)
