Because someone still loves you.
Why should I care about Aids? If you have visited my site, that should be obvious by now. Because of something I didn't want to mention, Freddie's passing. It was untimely. It was cruel. It was not supposed to have happened. Because I remember his official statement when he said he had Aids, only 24 hours before his passing: it is time we join in the fight against this terrible disease.
The Mercury Phoenix Trust was created as a charity fund raiser for AIDS research and treatment. If you care, and if you can, please support it. Help fight AIDS; we can win this disease; we must win it. For Freddie. For our friends and relatives, and for our own safety. Above all, because we care. If you care, please, join in this battle. Why should I care about AIDS? I care because the statistics are frightening, the ignorance is frightening, and it's about time we stop just sitting there and watching what is happening to so many people. Because Aids took Freddie from this world (he lives, yes, in our hearts and memories). Most of all, I care because, on September 05, when many fans and friends were celebrating Freddie's 53rd birthday, he should have been able to attend his own party...
