Here's another tab from Jack: Chords used: (reads left to right, low E to high e) D-10 9 12 11 x x A-5 4 7 6 x x G-3 2 5 4 x x Em-0 2 2 0 3 3 A(2)-x 0 2 2 2 3 D(2)-x x 0 2 3 2 Bm-x 2 4 4 3 2 The first part is D, A, G (all played in the some voicing as Say Goodbye) Then when it changes it goes into Em, A(2), D(2), Bm (which is the same as What Will Become of Me?) Then right before Rapunzel, it's A, G, D. It is basically a cross between the verse of Say Goodbye and What Will Become of Me?

"The Last Stop"
Fire, The sun is well asleep Moon is high above Fire grows from the east
How is this Hate so deep Lead us all so blindly killing killing
Fools we are If hate's the gate to peace This is the last stop
For raining tears, War The only way to Peace I don't fall for that
Raining tears
You're righteous, so righteous You're always so right Go ahead and dream Go ahead believe that you are the chosen one
Raining tears
Oh no, Gracious even God Bloodied the cross Your sins are washed enough
Mother's cry "Is hate so deep Must a baby's bones this hungry fire feed?"
As smoke clouds roll in The symphony of death This is the last stop
Scream Right is wrong now Shut up you big lie
This black and white lie You comb your hair to hide Your lying eyes
You're righteous, so righteous You're always so right But why your lie Go ahead and dream Go ahead believe that you are the chosen one
This is the last stop
Here there's more than is showing up Hope that we can break it down It's not so black and white
You're righteous, you're righteous You're righteous, you're always so right
There you are nailing a good tree Then say forgive me, forgive me Why
Raining tears This is the last stop
Here there is more than is showing up Hope that we can break it down It's not so black and white

Here's another version from Todd Woodard:
Hey..I've been over the tab's that you have for Stay, and I think my version is more accurate than the others you have.. Try it out, it's simpler (Dave's parts are usually fairly simple), and I think it sounds more like the song: | . | . | . | . | . | . | . | . ------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------- ---10---10-10---x-x-x-x-x10---8---7---8-----8-----7---8-----8s10--- ----8----8--8---x-x-x-x-x-8---8---5---5-----5-----6---6-----6s-8--- ------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------- | Each beat is marked off with a |, it's a two bar phrase, the bar line denoted with a | on the bottom of the staff. If you listen carefully, you will hear the slide I've tabbed out at the end of the 'riff'.
Here's another from Erik Hedman:
i figured out the tabs form the intro to stay. i took a look at everyones tabs, but it seemed they were moving all over the neck of the guitar. Dave basically stays in one place. I don't have the special format to write it in, so i'm going to do my best.sorry this is how it is.

I left out the muting because it's tough to notate and it gets confusing anyway, just listen to the album to get the rhythm.
As I said I went through this note by note to make sure it was right, and they are typical Dave Matthews chords, so it should be correct.
Here's yet another from Jason Weathers:
his is just the intro to the song and I thought I'd share how I think the song is played. It sure sounds a lot better than the other tabs, and I think its pretty right on.

This is a pretty straightforward song, so I've only tabbed out the major parts -- you'll have to cut and paste as necessary, but it should all be here. Dave mutes many of the strings and articulates the up and down strokes carefully in this song...the best way to learn as always is to sit and play along.

Here's a few words from Ethan Bauley:
This progression assumes that the bass lick goes between B and E
The verse part doesn't really have any guitar; just the bass
The next part, where he says "Crazy how you make it alright" goes to C one for one bar, then to B, then back to the verse
After the next verse, after the C to B part, he goes down to an open E major for a bar.
After the open E, the "Lovely lady..." part goes two bars G, two bars A, one bar of C, twice.
The "It's crazy, I'm thinking" part has two bars of C major, two beats of F, two beats of G, then another bar of C before going back to the open E, which goes back to the "Lovely lady" part.
Yadda, yadda yadda, the violin lick to the "It's crazy..." part goes g-4-5--4-5--4-5--4-5--4-5-4-2-0------ d-------------------------------3----
Here's a few words from Kyle Bradstreet:
I believe that Sean posted it as C-G-E(SOMETHING)-D from working with it and using my ears, i concluded that it goes something like
C- G- C- B( note, not chord )
i am pretty sure that this is more accurate than the other version, but by no means perfect any help would be EXTREMELY appreciated please e-mail me with corrections

There is also in this intro a alternating A and B on the G string, but I believe its Tim Reynolds, and not Dave playing it all..it seems pretty impossible for him to be doing it by himself, so I tried to combine it best I could, so I left out the A in the riff so you can play it by yourself....Enjoy!

Do both 4 times, then strum A and hold Then, during the "have you no pity" part: A, G, F, D, and repeat. Then [D]speak[A]please
Do all of this until the lots-o-muting fast part at the end, which is: Dm(2)x2 to C(2)x2
Yet another version from Ethan Bauley: this first part (i think it's
this first part (i think it's played similarly to "seek up" (position-wise)):
e---------------------------------------- b------5--7-------7-------5--7-------7--- g---------------------------------------- d--7----------7-------7----------7-------
i play it with my ring finger on the seventh fret of the "d" string and my index finger and pinky splitting duty on the fifth and seventh frets of the "b" string, respectively.
the verse part has been driving me nuts. i think it goes like this(each chord is strummed at the beginning of each bar):
Dm D Am Am
e--1---------0------------ b--3----3----1-----1------ g--2----2----2-----2------ d-------0----2-----2------ a-------------------------
make sure to leave the top note of the chord every second time you play it.
or, maybe something like:
e--------------------------------------- b--------------------------------------- g--10----7----9----3-------------------- d--12---------7----5-------------------- a--12----8------------------------------
i don't know the next part, but the chorus goes something like
D5 (eX,b3,g2,d0) A5 or maybe Asus4 G (E3,a2,d0,g0) F
Here's another version from Jason Weathers:
Intro: E------------------------------------------------------------------- B--------------5/7----------7------------5/7------------7----------- G------------------------------------------------------------------- D------7--------------7------------7-------------7------------------ A------------------------------------------------------------------- E
Verse: Dm A# C Am
E----x-----x------x------x------------------------------------------ B----6-----x------x------x------------------------------------------ G----7-----7------9------5------------------------------------------ D----x-----8------10-----7------------------------------------------- A----5-----x------x------x------------------------------------------ E----x-----6------8------6------------------------------------------
after "the Dreaming tree has died," Dave strums the Dm fast and stays on it for a while, and ends with a single strum on an A before the chorus.
Chorus: this was difficult but I think I got it. The first three chords are A-G-F, and then it goes to a "Dave" D chord that he plays in Best of Whats around. It looks like this:
E---------5----- B---------3----- When you play it, it'll look like a C moved up G--------------- 2 frets with an added chord. D---------4----- A---------5----- E---------x-----
When Dave gets to "Take me back..." play the verse chords. At "Save me please..." he's just playing the Dm chord through the end.

here it is, with a couple chords missing towards the end.

then it goes something like: G-B-C-D(or G; there's definately two guitars playing there), then some other stuff best left to someone less impatient than myself.

Here's another from Cliff LeBlanc:
ok....i've played with the album and this is correct. It's the same progression through the whole song except for the Em7 formattas.

Listen for the changes...it's pretty simple
Here's another from Brad Paye:

Toward the end of the song, the intro section is repeated several times, with the horn jam on top. The only difference from the intro seems to be the final base line, which goes:
E |--------------------| B |--------------------| G |--------------------| D |--------------------| A |--3-2------------| E |----------3-2----|

This is the first tab that I've put together, and it's just chords. This is the short "song" at the end of Before These Crowded Streets (CD-6:00), that I've dubbed "Everything Will Be All Right." If you've got any questions, please e-mail me - [email protected].

when i heard this little diddy, the first thing that came to my head was "Low Light" by Pearl Jam. If you listen carefully, they are practically identical. This is how you play "Low Light", so I tried it, and it sounded good.
