Mariah Carey Biography

Mariah was born on March 29, 1969. She was born near Long Island, NY.
She has two siblings, a sister, Alison and a brother, Morgan. When Mariah was 3 years old their parents divorced. Mariah was raised by her mother who is a voice coach and opera singer they moved often because of financial problems. It was also around the age of 3 that Mariah began to sing.Mariah attended Haborfields High school in Greenlawn, NY, where she claims she was not much of a student.

During this time she sang for her brothers band and recorded a demo. After school Mariah moved to New York City with a friend, where they shared a mattress on the floor of a dingy appartment.During her time in the city Mariah had a lot of jobs to support herself including the jobs of hat/coat checking, hostessing and sweeping hair salons. Before long she became a back up singer for pop star Brenda K. Starr, wich eventually became her road to succes. When Mariah was at a party with Brenda K. Starr she wanted to give her demo to one of the may people of may record companies who were there and instead it was snatched up by Tommy Mottola of then CBS Records. He listned to it in his limo and shortly there after he signed her to his label.
