THA THUG SAGA
The story of the five notorious thugs from Cleveland began in 1993 when all 5 members took a trip out west out to the hardcore streets of Los Angeles. At Los Angeles, it was their intentions to visit one of the most prodominate rap labels, Ruthless Records headed by the great and late Eric Wright(Eazy-E). It was said that Eric Wright had turned down the group when he heard an audition over the phone. But their persistance and confidence kept the group on hand. Upon arrival at Ruthless Records, the group made a roundtrip back to Cleveland when they were informed that Eazy-E had departed for their hometown for a tour. It was then at Cleveland that Eazy-E couldn't deny the talented group. A year following their live audition, Bone recorded their widely acclaimed debut album "Creepin' On Ah Come Up." The album portrayed their hardcore style and their unorthodox rap style. Their '94 debut album sold more than 2 million copies, largely in part of their hit single "Thuggish, Ruggish, Bone." Fortunately their success just grew from here. Their '95 follow up album "E.1999 Eternal" was an even larger success than the previous. This album meshed their hardcore style along with their harmonic overtures, which ironically melded well. "E. 1999 Eternal" debuted at #1 on the Pop Charts and went 5 time plantinum. Their most acknowledgable accomplishment came with their single "Tha Crossroads", a song dedicated to the recently deceased Eazy-E. The single tied the Beetles 1964 record as the fastest rising single on the pop charts. It also set a record of being the #1 single holding its spot for the most consecutive weeks on the R&B chart. Bone Thugs n Harmony has won numerous distinction such as Grammy Award for the best rap duo in 1997, the "Best Video"(Soul Train '97-Tha Crossroads), and Vibe's Best Rap group of 1997. They have recently released a 2 disc LP, "The Art of War". This new album will, without a doubt, be more successful than the previous two. Also in the near future, each member will release their own records on their own label, Mo-Thugs.
