Stares I Recieve

Chapter Three

It was the beginning of Imogen's second week in school in California. She collected her books from her locker and started to walk off to class with Chealsea, the nice girl who had smiled at her on her first day.
"So, how was your weekend?" Chealsea asked.
"Full to the rim with anxiety. We were at the hospital most off the time trying to find a donor for Adreanna." Imogen said.
"Any luck?" Chealsea asked.
"Nope, we didn't even come close. We stayed up all night trying to find a donor." Imogen said, "She's getting worse." She whispered.
Chealsea sighed and looked at her feet, then looked up again.
"You'll find a donor, there has to be somebody out there. Adreanna will get better, don't you worry." Imogen smiled thankfully.
Just then, Lisa came over to join the pair on their way to class with an enormous cheesy grin on her face.
"Hi girls! Guess who's been voted leader of the cheer leading squad!?" Her bubbly voice could make anyone burst out laughing.
"Who?" Asked Chealsea.
"Me!" Lisa giggled.
"No!" Imogen said sarcastically, the smile melted off Lisa's perfect face.
"There's no reason to be like that Imogen Mehigae. Everyone knew I would win." She said nastily.
"You never know Lisa. If Imogen had been here for a few more weeks she would have had a good chance winning." Chealsea said matter-of-factly.
"Oh! So now my 'best friend' is taking the side of Irish potato lover here!" Lisa shouted, causing students in the coridoor to look over.
"Irish potato lover!? Sorry to bust your bubble Barbie but I'm actually allergic to potatoes!" And with that Imogen stormed off to Health/PE lesson.

"Today we''l be talking about cancer." Said Mr Harrold.
"Great" Thought Imogen.
"Excuse me?" Mr Harrold looked straight at her. Imogen just realised that she's said it out loud.
"Oh, sorry sir, it's just that, um... someone in my family has cancer." She finished quietly.
"Oh, then if you find this too depressing then you may be excused from class today." The stern look on his face melted into a sympathetic smile.
"Thanks sir." Imogen almost whispered. Again she was in the centre of attention, which she hated.
Five minutes into the lesson she was in the hall, crying.

At lunch ninty percent of the school was talking about Imogen's Health class. All kinds of stories had been invented. One was that Imogen's friend had cancer and her dad was operating on her, seeing he was a doctor, and somehow, he caught cancer too.
Imogen ignored all these stories, and tried to ignore all the stares she recieved, but being the preson she was, this was not an easy task.
By the end of the day she was on the verge of going crazy. People were asking her questions she couldn't believe!
When she got back to the hotel she discovered a letter from Yvonne. As soon as she got upstairs to the room/suite she tore it open and read it.

Imogen,
I know it's rude of me to jump into what's happening in my life but over the past weekend you wouldn't believe what's happened!
I can't write it in this letter because it'll take too long to write it all in deatail, so, please, as soon as you get this letter, call me, you can reverse charges, my dad said so.
Please call me as soon as you've read this "letter".

Toodles,
Yvonne

Imogen quickly picked up the phone and dialed Yvonne's number.
