Totally Unexpected
Chapter Four
This chapter, as a Hanson fan, was hard for me to write,
so I just want all you readers to know that I love Hanson and this is NOT
my oppinion of Hanson.
"Yvonne, that you?" Imogen questioned.
"Imogen, hey. I guess you got my letter."
"Yeah! Great letter!" Imogen laughed fakely. She was glad that Yvonne sounded
happy, so much happier than her. Yvonne wasn't stupid though, immediately, she sensed
the flat tone in Imogen's voice.
"Hey, what's wrong?" Yvonne asked worryingly.
"Oh nothing!" Imogen quickly brightened up. She didn't wan to talk about Adreanna, not now. She knew she would cry.
"So tell me your big news."
"Ok. Well, this is gonna sound kinda weird and unlike me at first but it's actually not as bad as it seems." Imogen sighed.
"Look, just tell me!" Yvonne laughed.
"Ok." She paused, took a deep break and blurted out, "I met Hanson."
There was a silence on Imogen's end of the line.
"Imogen?"
"Uh yeah. Could you repeat that again, I thought you said you met Hanson!"Imogen started to laugh but then stopped when Yvonne didn't
start to laugh with her. "Yvonne, you're joking, right?".
"Nope. I met them, they're actually really nice guys." Yvonne almost burst out laughing with her freind's reaction.
"Um Yvonne, you were right. This sounds very unlike you."
"Imogen, I know this was like the complete antithesis of what you were expecting me to say but they really are, very cool guys!" Yvonne was still
laughing.
"Antithesis!? That's an understatement!" Imogen huffed.
"Imogen, you aren't mad are you?" Yvonne asked.
"No! No, I'm not mad it's just that, that..."
"That what?"
"It's just that it was the last thing on this planet that I thought would happen!" Yvonne laughed happily.
"You'd be suprised. The thing is that they're probably the nicest guys I've met!"
"Yeah well, no comment." Both girls laughed.
"So, how's Adreanna?" Imogen immediately stopped laughing. They were entering the dangerous territiry where Imogen didn't want to
be at that moment. Noticing this, Yvonne immediately regretted asking the question.
Imogen cleared her throat. "Um well, you know. She's still the same."
"Oh." There was an uncomfortable silence inbetween the pair. Finally Yvonne spoke up.
"Look, Imogen I'm really sorry, I shouldn't have asked..." Imogen Interrupted.
"No no no, It's fine really. It's just a fragile topic at the moment. We still havn't found a donor and I'm worried about her.
"That's only natural. I understand. Don't worry though, you'll find a donor."
"I hope so." Imogen whispered.
"Me too." Yvonne whispered back.
Imogen cleared her throat again and raised the volume of her voice. "So tell me all abput Hanson, if you like them then they have to be ok at least." Yvonne laughed.
"Well I was at the radio station 'cause I'd won this hamper through a competition so I'd gone to pick it up..." Yvonne retold the story, remembering every detail.
The day Yvonne meets Hanson.
Yvonne walked down the brightly decorated halway following the directions through the make of corridoors from the piece of crumpled paper she held in her hand.
"Third door on left." She mumbled and looked around for the door. She found it and tried to pull it open but everytime sge did the door was pulled shut again from the other side.
"Um, let me open the door." She called to the person on the other side.
"Ok." Came a muffled reply. With that the door came freely open. Standing in the door way was a tall guy with shoulder legnth blonde hair and twinkling blue eyes.
"Oh heck you're Taylor Hanson!" She cried, so shocked she couldn't control what she said.
"Um, yeah, and you're...?"
"Yvonne, Yvonne Hallaway." She said.
"Hi Yvonne. You lost in this place too?" He asked, flashing a smile. Yvonne smiled back.
"Uh, yeah. You think you could help me?" She asked, feeling more comfortable in his presence after that yummy smile.
"Well, I might not be much help but give me a look at your instructions anyway."
"Ok, I have to be in Studio 7 to collect this hamper thing." She said, handing him the paper.
"Ah! I know where that is, but it's a bit complicated to explain. Come on I'll show you."
"Oh. Ok." Yvonne quickly followed him down the corridoor.
"Maybe he doesn't look so much like a girl, it's probably just the light in all the photos." She thought as she walked in time next to him. "I can't believe I'm thinking this but maybe
Dion's taste in guys insn't so bad."
"So, how'd ya win this hamper?" Taylor asked, looking down at her.
"Oh, through this competition on the radio, you know 'If you're our 50th caller you'll recieve a fun goody hamper...'" She said, mimicking the radio DJs. Taylor laughed.
"Oh cool, I never won anything on the radio, you must feel pretty lucky."
"Um well, it's cool. Not really a big deal"...
Five minutes later they arrived at the studio and Yvonne recieved her prize.
"Woah!" Both of them said in unison when she got it.
"Crikey! I didn't know it was this good. Oh my god, check out the stuff in here." She rumaged through the enormous basket, full of quicksilver swimmers and clothes, Stussy clothes, Red Earth and Hard Candy
make-up and Five CD's.
"You won't have to go to the mall for weeks!" Taylor said, eyes wide.
"I know, but how in the hell am I gonna get this this home!?" She asked.
"Oh, I'll help you if you like."
"Great, thanks." So they each took one handle of the basket and lugged it down to the cab Q. The waved a cab and got in, even the Taxi driver's eyes were wide at the hamper.
"Got yourself a bit of luck there girly?" He asked.
"Oh yeah! I reckon!" They all laughed. Soon they pulled up in front of Yvonne's house. Taylor quickly paid the cab driver before Yvonne could protest and then he drove off.
"Thanks Taylor, how much do I owe you back?"
"Nothing, don't worry about it."
"Oh, ok. Thanks." She smiled gratefully.
"No problem." He smiled back. "So this your place?"
"Oh yeah!" Yvonne felt stupid realising then were standing out in the pavement. "You wanna come in?"
"Uh, yeah sure. But do you mind if I call my parents first?"
"No, sure, there's a phone inside." Yvonne unlocked the door and they lugged the hamper into the front hall.
"The phone's over there." She pointed to a small table so he walked over to it. He noticed a photo fame on the table with a photo of Yvonne and another gorgeous girl with dark brown hair and bright green eyes.
"Who's the girl?" He asked curiously, pointing at the photo. Yvonne smiled.
"Bit of a knock out huh?" He laughed.
"Oh yeah!"
"Her name is Imogen. She's my best friend but about two weeks ago she moved to California because her sister's got Leukemia and the need to find a donor."
"Oh, that's sad. How old's her sister?"
"Only eight, and just as pretty."
"Eight? That's almost like Jessie, my sister, that's really sad." Taylor really did look concerned.
"Yeah, but they have to find a donor soon, there must be someone out there." Yvonne said, starting to feel a bit blue.
"I'm sure there is, I'd better call my parents now." Taylor called his parents.
Back to the phone call
"And then Isaac and Zac came over and we hung out at my place. We had a blast."
"I bet you made that knock-out bit up!" Imogen laughed.
"No honest, he really thought you were pretty!" Yvonne said.
"Cool, well I have to go now so I'll write to you soon, bye!"
"Bye!" Imogen hung up. What news, even if she didn't like Hanson, they sounded like cool guys, maybe they wern't so bad after all.
