"Palm trees, white beaches, hot guys and shopping malls beyond belief." Shannon Mehigae said to her daughter.
"So what, no matter where you guys take us, nothing is going to change, its still there mum. Its not going to help." Imogen replied.
"Imogen!"
"What?"
"How can you be so uncaring?!" Her father, Jim, shouted.
That was the point. Imogen didn't know. She didn't understand herself at the moment. Her brain was a muddle of thoughts and emotions.
She couldn't come to grip with it. For eight whole years of her life there had always been an Adreanna. Soon, she could be gone.
"I don't know! Get off my back and leave me alone." Imogen raced upstairs and into her clustered room. Posters of grunge bands like Nirvana and
Metalica painted the walls leaving no space for the white paint beaneath to show its face.
She turned on the radio, Mmmbop by Hanson was playing.
"Friggin' girls!" She screamed and stabbed the off button with her finger.
Ever since Adreanna had bee diagnosed with leukemia, Imogen had been a raging mood. How could life be so cruel? How could anyone
want to take the life of a eight year old girl?
Imogen needed to find a retreat and get away from her crowded room, her parents and the tense atmosphere of the house. She ran back downstairs, out the back door,
accros the street, down a narrow dirt track which led to the woods. She slowed down and carefully made her way through the dense vegetation. She arrived at the edge of the wood and
carefully walked to the edge of a cliff over looking the wilderness. This was her place of peace, to get away from it all. She stood there and looked up at the sky.
"I thought you were meant to protect us!" She yelled at the sky.
"Why in the hell did you send her here if you were going to take her back again? Why?" She screamed. Silence, no one replied.
"Tell Me!" She screamed again."She only a little girl" Imogen whispered.
A solitary tear trickled down her cheek, leaning a shiny trail of silver.
