Two Angels

There appeared upon a hill two angels one night
One bright as the sun, the other dark as night

One by one they came to me to tell me of my life
And how they would reveal to me the answers to my plight

"True love will overcome" said He, the angel pure and kind
But is it love I feel for her or echoes in my mind?

"Your love will leave you hurt," the Black One said to me
"You live in different worlds you know, impossible don't you see?"

And with this dark and mysterious being I could not help but agree
For hoping now would bring me only sorrow, pain, and grief

She came to me the very next day with love and caring in her eyes
I held her close and as I did, remembered the white angel's cries

My heart afire, I cursed myself for having been such a fool
And holding her even closer still, I threw away the black angel's lies
