Chapter   6

She looked at his blue eyes. She liked him, a lot, but she felt like something was missing. She shook the feeling off and grinned at him.

Sure. Lets go!

They went out to Nicks car. Nick opened the door for her and she smiled at him.

She directed him to her house. When they got there, Nick walked her up to the front door.

Michelle, I had a really fun time tonight.

She smiled at him, warmly. So did I.

He smiled at her, encouraged. Well...I was wondering if you wanted to go and see a movie tomorrow.

Are you asking me out on a date?

Nick grinned at her. Yep.

She thought about it for a second. Alright. That sounds good.

He smiled at her. Then he leaned down and kissed her on the lips. She gasped in surprise, and Nick took the opportunity to deepen the kiss. When they broke apart, she smiled at him.

See you tomorrow, Nick.

She opened the door and waved to him.

She sighed. She had a date with a really nice, hot guy.

Outside, in his car, Nick was thinking about Michelle. She was so gorgeous! He sighed. He couldnt believe he had asked her out. Not only that, but she had said yes!

After Nick left, Michelle called AJ.

If you are not a beautiful woman with the body of a goddess, you had better be really sorry!

Michelle burst out laughing. Hi AJ! Its Michelle!

Hi! Whats up?

Michelle paused. Was it her imagination, or did he sound more awake?

Oh, nothing...except the fact that Nick asked me out!

He did?

Yep! Were going to the movies!

Inwardly, AJ groaned. Shit! This was not what he needed to hear!

Thats...uhhh...thats great Michelle.

Whats wrong?

Nothing...so what time did you and Nick leave?

Ummmm...I dont know...I just got home.

Oh. So what did you find out about Nicky?

Ummm...this and that...and that hes a really great kisser!

What??? You kissed him???

Michelle paused. She hadnt meant to let that slip out like that.

Yeah..when he walked me to the door.

Oh.

So...whats happening with you and Calista?

Huh?

Did you ask her out?

No.

Why not? she demanded.

Uhhh...

Michelle! Get off the fucking phone! Michelles step-brother yelled loud enough for the whole continent to hear.

AJ? Ill talk to you later...HE wants to use the phone. I think hes drunk. Dont wanna get him mad. Last time, he threw half the glasses in our kitchen at me!

AJ sighed. Alright. Good night, Michelle.

Night AJ!

AJ hung up, and lay back on his bed. Damn! He sighed. He felt so alone.

~Meanwhile~

As soon as Nick got home, he picked up the phone and called Calista.

Cally? How are you?

Im ok. Why? she asked hoping that it for the reason she wanted.

Well, AJ said that you werent feeling well.

Oh, said Calista, her eyes getting misty. Im fine. It must have been something I ate.

Oh...well, guess what?

What?

Michelle and I are going to the movies tomorrow.

Oh...thats...great! said Calista, faking happiness for her best friend.

So...how are you and AJ getting along?

Calista covered her eyes. She had been avoiding thinking about him. She couldnt shake the feeling that she had gotten when she had kissed him on the cheek.

Cally?

Yes? I mean...were getting on alright, I guess...

Oh thats cool! Ill call you tomorrow, kay?

Bye Nick.

Gnight Calista!

Calista hung as a feeling of remorse came over her. She shouldve told Nick before. Now it was too late.

She sighed and tried to go to sleep.

~At AJs house~

AJ hadnt moved for the past half hour. He couldnt believe Nick had asked Michelle out. They had only known each other for a few hours. Idiot! Thats why they go on dates! To get to know each other better. You of all people should know that!

He glanced at the phone. Then, he picked it up and called Nick.

Hey man. Whats up?

Not much. Except me and Michelle are going out tomorrow.

I know. Said AJ flatly.

Nick was too happy to catch the sadness in his friends voice.

So, whyre you calling so late?

Uhhh...I... AJ had wanted to tell him to back off, but he knew that Michelle would be upset.

I was just wondering what Calistas phone number was.

Nick started laughing. OK. He dictated the number, and then paused. Can I have Michelles phone number?

Didnt you already get it?

Uhhh...we kinda got side-tracked...

Ill bet, said AJ, dryly.

Yeah...well, can I have the number?

AJ was tempted to say no, but he gave it to him.

Thanks AJ. Bye!

Bye.

AJ looked down at the piece of paper that he had written Calistas number on. He decided that she had a right to know what Nick was up to. She probably already knew. Why are you making excuses to yourself? He asked himself. You know why. You like both of them. Yeah, but Calista is the one who is single.

He picked up the phone and dialed her number.

What?

Whoa! Someones in a bad mood.

Sorry, AJ?

Yeah, hey Calista.

Whats wrong?

AJ sighed. Well, Michelle called me to tell me that her and Nick have a date tomorrow.

I know. Theyre going to the movies.

Oh...so you know?

Calista sighed. Unfortuanately.

Yeah, well, did Nick tell you the other part?

What other part?

The part where they kissed.

Calista groaned in frustration. Damn!

Thats what I thought! Anyway, so then I called Nick to tell him to back off, but I couldnt do it.

Why?

Would you tell Nick to stay away from someone he liked?

Calista sighed. No, probably not. So what happened?

I just asked for your phone number instead. Hey! Are you busy tomorrow?

What?

Well...I was thinking that...maybe we should get together or something. We could go and see a movie.

Arent Michelle and Nick going to see a movie?

Yeah...but, so what?

Alright. Ill see you tomorrow. She gave him her address and the rang off.

AJ was thinking about Calista. She was beautiful and really nice. God, what was he thinking now?

Calista was thinking the same thing. AJs really hot and hes soooo nice and...God, what am I doing? How did I get myself into this situation?
