~~~~~~~ A little time before, Callie coming out of the coma. ~~~~~~~~~
Callie was still in a coma, having the weirdest, yet most reality awakening. Only bits and pieces were flashing through her head with little dialog.
Callie was kissing AJ at one point, then at another, they were fighting. She couldnt really make out what was being said. Callie stormed out of the house. Next, she was at Nicks house. When he opened the door she rushed into his arms. He was caught off guard and was nearly knocked to the ground.
Whats this all about?
Callie had tears in her eyes. AJ and I got into a fight. She blabbed on a bit, something about their relationship being affected in some way. It was blurry and hard to understand, but in a way, she could understand the entire scene without words.
When she finished, Nick pulled her in for a friendly hug. He sat her down on the couch and he talked for a little bit. He was giving her advice.
How do you really feel about him?
I like him so much and he really makes me feel good. And hes an unbelievable kisser! A little smile crept across her face.
Nick talked for a little longer and Callie periodically nodded her head. They hugged once more and then the next thing she knew, she was at AJs house. When he opened the door, Callie was about to speak when she saw someone standing behind him.
Then, everything became white and Callie was staring up into the eyes of a friendly looking woman above her.
Hello Callie! We were getting a little worried about you there for a second.
Where am I? Who are you? Callie looked frightened and confused. She tried to sit up a little but a raging shock went through her head and tingled down to her spine and legs.
Please do not get up! You have a minor injury to your spine and I need you to sit down and relax for a bit. That came from a second voice, a mans.
Callie reached up for her neck and felt a neck brace. Callie couldnt help but cry as she laid back down and listened to the people speak. The man went up to her side and looked down on her.
My name is Doctor Hayes and this is Teresa, your nurse. Youre at the hospital in Tampa.
Why am I here? Callie was distressed and confused. She had no idea what was going on.
Sweetie, you had a very bad fall at gymnastics today and youre friend brought you here. Well, he actually rode with you in the ambulance. Apparently he was extremely worried about you. The paramedic had to give him some oxygen when he started to hyperventilate. The man chuckled a bit. It brought a faint smile to her face.
Nick.
Well, your friend and another gentleman are in the waiting room. Theyve been here the whole time. There was another girl but she left a long time ago. Poor thing. She looked like she could really use a nap.
Michelle Callie thought. She suddenly remembered the kiss. Callie closed her eyes and then opened them again.
I want to see Nick. Only Nick, not AJ.
Okay. He and the nurse left the room. The nurse went to check on another patient while the doctor went into the waiting room. He saw Calistas friend and the other man sitting side by side. They both looked like they were deep in thought.
Shes awake.
Nick was so surprised, startled and relieved that when he jumped off of the chair he nearly knocked AJ over. AJ recovered and walked over to where Nick was with the doctor.
Can we go see her? AJ asked hopefully.
She said that she only wants to see Nick. Im sorry.
AJ felt his heart sink. Well duh! If you hadnt been kissing Michelle Calista wouldnt be in this situation right now! AJ scolded himself for being such a jerk.
Okay, what room is she in?
325.
Thanks. Nick turned to AJ. Ill talk to her for you.
AJ just muttered something and sat back down, burying his head in his hands.
Nick walked down the hallway of the hospital until he saw room 325. He went inside.
Hey Callie! How ya doing? Nick put on a brilliant smile. She looked up at him and smiled as best as she could.
Hey Nicky! Not so bad, I guess, If you dont mind not being allowed to move at all. So, I heard that you had a little bit of breathing trouble on the way here. She smirked at him.
He laughed a little. Well, it was just so unbelievable! I mean, here I was in the ambulance, sitting beside your limp and nearly lifeless body and I just couldnt help the thought that I might loose you.
Im still here. So, what exactly happened, I dont remember much?
Nick took in a deep breath. Well, I had driven you to gymnastics and your coach was yelling at you the whole time saying that you werent paying attention. Then, you were on the uneven bars doing a release, but you never got a hold of the bar. You did this, sickening twist in the air and then fell nearly on your head. I rushed up to your side and yelled out for someone to call 911. Your eyes were shut tight and you were growing pale. I kept calling your name but you just laid there, lifeless. He couldnt continue anymore. Tears were streaming down his face.
Its okay Nick.
No its not. The doctor said that there was a big chance that you wouldnt make it. Oh God Callie! I dont know what I would have done if I lost you!
He went over to her and hugged her on the bed. She tried to hug him back but every time she moved a sharp pain raced through her body.
Nick, its alright. Im here, Im not going anywhere. But we do have to do something.
Nick looked at her with a confused look on his face. What?
Can you go get AJ? We need to sit down and work things out.
Okay. He knelt down and hugged her again and kissed her cheek gently.
He left and a minute later AJ walked in the door with a dreadful, yet, almost ready to be hopeful face.
Hey Callie. As he looked at her tears started to form in his eyes.
Hi AJ. She said it almost coldly. We all need to sit down and have a talk. There is one major issue that we need to discuss and get it out of the way so that we can all move on with our lives.
Oh god! Callie though. Here goes nothing.
