Greener

The band was formed in 1993 as "Homegrown", named after a never released Neil Young album from the early 70's. The line-up was: Håkan Belin - vocals & guitar, Mats Olsson - guitar, Anders Vretenäs - bass and Ulf Eklund - drums. They had a lot of gigs in small clubs around Uppsala, Rackis among others, and did get a good deal of fans. Homegrown recorded some demos (samples "Home","Still the Same" and "Pressure" is from that time).

Mats left the band in late 95, moving to Stockholm and was replaced by a friend of the band:Per Larsson. The name of the band was altered to Greener about the same time (taken from an article in Reader's Digest!).

Gigs followed: Gjutjärn MC (a gig at the Hells Angels supporters (thanks Matte) of Uppsala, Greener beat the drinking-record for bands playing there), Fellinis, Fredmans (clubs in Uppsala) and of course a lot of party giging for friends and unknown.

The band went into the studio in 1996, having new songs to record, but failed to catch the right energy and the mix was never finished.

In 1997 Mats moved back to Uppsala and engineered the recording of another demo - this time recorded live directly into a cassette-recorder! The result sounded great and is now being used as a demo (songs from that session can also be found at this site).
