" Damn. Now we're going to miss tonight's concert, " A.J said.
" I'll call management, " Howie said pulling out his cell. This was the second time they had to cancel a show due to weather.
" I'm going up to my room to play some Nintendo *64, " Nick said walking off.
" Check the weather station while your up there, " Brian called after him.
Nick stepped out of the elevator at the correct floor and started walking down the hallway. He wasn't paying attention and ran right into a person walking in the opposite direction, knocking her down.
" Oh shit, I'm sorry, " Nick said placing his hand out to help her up. She was a dark haired asian girl.
" You should watch where you're going, " the girl snapped taking Nick's hand and getting up.
" Look, I said I was sorry, " Nick said.
" It's ok, " the girl replied, smoothing out her shirt.
" My name is Nick, " he said when no one spoke up. The girl looked up at him and realized who he was.
" Oh my god, Nick Carter, " the girl said, her eyes becoming wide.
" Um...yeah that's me, " Nick laughed.
" I'm a big fan of BsB. I can't believe it's really you, " the girl said.
" You're not one of those BsB fans who is going to go crazy and faint are you, " Nick asked jokingly.
" No, " the girl laughed.
" So...um what's your name or am I just going to have to call you girl or something, " Nick asked.
" Oh my name is Lucinda, but I hate that, so I go by Luci, " she replied.
" Cool name, I like it, " Nick said smiling. Luci smiled back.
" Hey, just wondering, but I was heading to my room to play some Nintendo *64, you want to come, " Nick asked.
Luci hesitated. " Um... "
" LUCINDA, " a woman's voice called from down the hallway.
" One sec mom, " Luci called back. " I have to go check in with my mom first. "
" LUCINA NOW, " the women yelled.
" I gotta go, " Luci said turning to walk away.
" I'm in room 203, " Nick called after her.
" Ok see you later, " Luci said and walked away. ' oh my god. I just talked to Nick Carter ' Luci thought. She felt as if she could scream.
" What took you so long, " Luci's mom said angrily when Luci opened the door and walked in.
" Sorry, I sort of stopped at the arcade room on the way back, " Luci said shrugging her shoulders. " Hey I'm going to go to a friend's room and play some Nintendo *64, " she added.
" You're going to take Clinton and Luke with you, " Luci's mom said.
" But mom, " Luci began to protest.
" No buts about it, or you're not going, " Luci's mom replied.
' Why me? ' she thought to herself. " Fine, " she said angrily. " Clinton, Luke let's go. I'm not going to wait for you forever. " Clinton 7 and Luke 4, got up from their place in front of the t.v. and ran out the door with Luci.
" Luci, Clinton keeps hitting me, " Luke whined.
" Clinton stop hitting Luke, " Luci said.
" I'm not, " Clinton replied.
" He did it again, " Luke said.
Luci stopped walking and turned around to face her brothers. " You guys better knock it off or I swear I'm taking you right back to the room, and you're going to stay there," Luci said getting mad. Finally they reached room 203. Luci nervously raised her arm and knocked on the door.
" Who's is it, " Nick voice came from inside.
" Uh...it's Luci, " she replied.
A minute later, Nick opened the door and smiled. " Hey what's up. Who are these guys, " Nick asked looking at Clinton and Luke.
" These are my brothers, Clinton who is 7 and Luke who is 4. My mom made me bring them, " Luci said.
" Hey that's cool, " Nick said motioning for them to come inside. Luci and her bros followed Nick over to where the t.v. was set up.
" Up for some Mario Kart, " Nick asked handing Luci a controller.
" Sure, I'm not that great at it though, " Luci replied.
" I'll go easy on ya, " Nick snickered. Luci laughed and the game started. They sat there and played 6 rounds until Nick finally gave up. " Damn girl, you beat me each time, " Nick said laughing.
" Ok so I lied, this is my favorite *64 game and I play it all the time, " Luci laughed back.
" Oh now you tell me, " Nick said.
" Hey aren't you Nick from the Backstreet Boys, " Luke spoke up.
" Yeah, " Nick replied.
" Well my sister really likes you, " Clinton said laughing. Luci's face turned bright red as she began to blush.
" Well I really like Luci, " Nick replied smiling. This made Luci blush even more. There was a knock at the door. " I'll be right back, " Nick said getting up to see who was knocking.
" Hey Nick did you check the weather station, " Brian asked walking in. He saw Luci and stopped. " Hey I'm Brian, " he said smiling.
Luci smiled. " I know. I'm Luci, " she replied.
" The weather isn't supposed to let up for the next day or two, " Nick said.
" Well looks like the next two shows in Denver are going to be canceled. This really sucks, " Brian said. " Well I'm going to go tell the others. It was nice meeting you Luci, " he said and with that he turned and left.
" Hey, you and your bros want to go for a swim, " Nick asked.
Luci really didn't want to take her little brothers with her, but being with Nick would make up for it. " Sure, sounds like fun, " She replied.
" I'll go take you to meet the others and see if they want to come too ok, " Nick said walking over to the dresser to get his swim shorts out.
They then left Nick's room and headed over to Luci's so she could get her swim suit. " Hurry up guys, " Luci said to her bro's as they ran to get their shorts. " I'm going swimming mom, bye, " Luci said as they rushed out the door.
" Hey Nick, who's your friend, " A.J said as Nick, Luci and her bro's walked up to the others.
" Luci, this A.J, Kevin, Howie and you just met Brian, " Nick said pointing to each one as he said their name. Luci smiled. " Luci, her little bros and I are going for a swim, y'all want to come, " Nick asked.
" Yeah we'll meet you in there in a little bit, " Kevin said. A.J and Brian ran off to get their swim wear and met up at the pool while Kevin and Howie were still busy talking to management on the phone.
Luci splashed Nick in the face and he did the same back until they were in a splash war. A.J and Brian swam over and dunked Nick. Luci laughed at how funny Nick looked struggling to get away from A.J and Brian to keep from getting dunked, but he had no luck. Nick and Luci watched as Brian and A.J played around with Clinton and Luke near the shallow end of the pool.
" Have you been to any of our concerts, " Nick asked trying to make conversation.
" Yeah I've been to two. Tonight's was supposed to be my third. The ticket was a birthday present, " Luci replied.
" When's your birthday, " Nick asked.
" Today, " Luci answered.
" I have to get you something, " Nick said.
" You don't have to Nick, " Luci said smiling at how sweet Nick was acting.
" No. It's no problem. I want to, " Nick replied.
For the next three hours they swam around, Kevin and Howie had joined them. Luci looked at her watch and noticed the time. " Shoot. I better get going, " Luci said getting out of the pool to dry herself off.
" Can I see you later, " Nick asked.
" Um...yeah, sure. Meet me in the lobby in about an hour, " Luci said getting her bros out of the pool and then left.
" Nick likes Luci, " Brian teased.
" Yeah so what if I do, " Nick said splashing him.
An hour later...
Luci sat nervously in one of the hotel lobby chairs, waiting for Nick to arrive.
" Hey Luc, " Nick said coming up from behind her and placing a red rose in front of her.
" Oh my god, Nick you scared me, " Luci said taking the rose. " This is so sweet. "
" Sorry I scared ya. I got a surprise for you, come on, " Nick said taking hold of Luci's hand and leading her to the hotel resteraunt.
" Right this way, " the waiter said. He showed them to a two seat table near the back of the resteraunt so they wouldn't be disturbed. There were two candles lit, giving it a romantic feeling.
" Awww Nick, you shouldn't have, " Luci said smiling.
" No I wanted to do something special for you since it's your birthday and we are cooped up in this hotel, " Nick said pulling out a chair for Luci to sit on.
" Are you two ready to order, " the waiter asked coming back 10 minutes later.
" I'll have the cheeseburger and fries, what about you Luc, " Nick asked handing the menu to the waiter.
" I'll have the same. " Luci said. The waiter nodded and walked away to go place their orders.
" I'll really appreciate this Nick, " Luci said.
" It's no problem, " Nick said smiling. After they ate dinner, they left the hotel resteraunt and headed to their rooms. Nick held Luci's hand as they walked to Luci's room and stopped in front of the door.
" Thanks for dinner, " Luci said.
" No problem, " Nick said. " I know I only met you today, but I really like you, " he added.
Luci blushed. " I like you too Nick. " Nick leaned in and kissed Luci, surprising her. He pulled back.
" Well, um...whoa, " Luci stuttered. She looked at the ground. Nick's face turned red. " I better go in now, " Luci spoke.
" I'll see you tommorrow? " Nick asked.
" Yeah, bye Nick, " Luci said.
" Bye Luc, " Nick said and let go of her hand. He watched her go into her hotel room and shut the door. He stuck his hands in his pocket and walked slowly back to his room.
The next day...
" Luci wake up, " Luci's mom said.
Luci sat up in bed and rubbed her eyes. " Huh, what, " she in a groggy voice.
" Somebody taped this note to our door. It's addressed to you, " Luci's mom said handing her a folded piece of paper. Luci took the piece of paper and unfolded it. It read: ' Hey Luc. Meet me in the hotel lobby when you wake up. Talk to ya then. Love ya! Nick '
Luci smiled as she folded the note back up. " I'm taking a shower, " Luci said hoping out of bed and running to the bathroom.
Luci got ready in a hurry and rushed down to the hotel lobby. She looked around and didn't see Nick anywhere.
" Hey Luci, over here, " Nick said running up to her.
" Hey Nick, " Luci said.
" Me and the guys are waiting for you to come and eat breakfast with us, " Nick said taking hold of her hand and pulling her towards the hotel resteraunt. Luci looked at her watch. 11:35am. ' More like brunch ' she thought.
" Hey Luci, " the guys greeted her as her and Nick walked up to the table. Nick pulled a chair out for her and she sat down. They all sat there around the eating their breakfast and talking. Luci & Nick were talking and flirting amongst themselves at one end of the table.
" Hey guys, wanna join me in a Mario Kart tournament, " Kevin asked standing up. He thought he should leave Luci and Nick alone.
" Yeah, " A.J and Howie replied in unison, getting up also.
" Nah, I don't want to, " Brian said.
" Yeah you do, " A.J said grabbing his arm and dragging him off in the direction of the elevator.
" So where are you guys heading when you leave here, " Luci asked.
" We'll have to make up the two concerts in Denver that we had to cancel. The weather has let up so we have to leave tommorrow, " Nick replied. Luci looked upset. " What's wrong? "
Luci tried her best to attempt a fake smile. " Nothing, " she said.
" Where are you heading when you leave, " Nick asked.
" Back home to Branson, Missouri, " Luci replied.
" Really? Cool. I think we're supposed to be doing a show there sometime on this leg of the tour," Nick said. He was just about to kiss Luci, when they heard Luci's name being called.
" It's my mom, " Luci said pulling back from Nick.
" Where have you been Lucinda, " Luci's mom asked walking up to the two.
" I...um...I was eating breakfast with Nick, Mom, " Luci answered.
" Well, I've been looking all over for you. Remember to take your cell phone with you the next time you decide to leave the room, " Luci's mom said handing Luci her cell phone. " Mr. Jackson from management called and so did the girls. They were all wondering why you didn't make the recording appointment at the studio this morning. "
" Ok Mom, I'll give them a call, " Luci replied.
" By the way, we're leaving tommorrow, " Luci's mom said as she walked away.
" Management, " Nick asked once Luci's mom was gone.
" Management for the group I'm in, " Luci said. " We're with a hometown record company in Branson called ' Phat Records '. It's a small record company with a big name. We might be getting signed to Jive. Mr. Jackson is working on it. "
" Phat! What's your group called, " Nick asked.
" ' In Motion '. Ashley came up with it, " Luci replied.
" Maybe you guys can come on tour with us sometime since you are going to be signed to Jive, " Nick suggested excitedly.
" That would be awesome, " Luci exclaimed. " Excuse me for a minute. I need to call the girls up."
" No problem babe, " Nick said with a smile.
Luci smiled back and dialed Ashley's cell number.
" Guys, quiet down. I'm on the phone. Hello, " Ash said answering after two rings.
" Hey Ash, " Luci replied.
" How come you didn't make it to the studio today? Management is pissed because you weren't there, " Ash said.
" Management has no right to be pissed. It's not my fault we got snowed into the hotel because of a blizzard. Management can shove it up their... " Luci's voice trailed off when she noticed Nick was staring at her. She realized she was pratically yelling and blushed.
" Well you better be back by tommorrow evening because we've got a meeting with Jive, and then next Saturday we have a concert here in Branson. We're being the opening act for some group. Management didn't say, " Ash said.
" Oh my god, Ash are you serious? Jive wants to meet with us, " Luci asked excitedly.
" Would I lie about this? Of course I'm serious, " Ash replied with a laugh.
" I'll be there. What time is the meeting, " Luci asked, almost unable to bare her excitement.
" 5:30 pm. Don't be late, " Ash answered.
" Don't worry, I won't. See ya then, " Luci said hanging up.
" I take it you just heard some good news, " Nick asked.
" We're meeting with Jive tommorrow! I can't believe this, " Luci exclaimed. Nick gave her a big hug. " We've also got a concert next Saturday in Branson. We're going to be the opening act for some group. "
" Sing for me, " Nick said suddenly.
Luci was surprised by this. " Nah, that's ok, " she replied shyly.
" Pleeaassee, " Nick asked giving Luci a puppy dog face.
Luci gave in. " I...I guess. What do you want me to sing, " she asked.
" I want it that way, " Nick said.
" Ok..., " Luci replied. She cleared her throat and began singing. " You are my fire, the one desire. Believe, when I say, I want it that way. But we, are two worlds apart. Can't reach to your heart, when you say, that I want it that. Tell me why, ain't nothing but a heart ache. Tell me why, ain't nothing but a mistake. Tell me why, I never wanna hear you say, I want it that way. " She stopped singing when she noticed the smile on Nick's face. " What? " she laughed.
" You have an amazing voice, " Nick replied and gave her a kiss.
Later that night...
It was a very cold night. The sky was clear and millions & millions of twinkling stars shown above. Nick and Luci stood close to each other, staring up at the stars. Nick had his arms around Luci.
" Do you want to have breakfast tommorrow, just me and you, before we part, " Nick asked kissing her on the forehead.
" I would love to, " Luci answered as she closed her eyes and layed her head back against Nick's chest.
The next morning...
Luci woke up early so she could spend as much time with Nick as she possibly could. She put her shoes on and then walked out the door, closing it quietly behind her.
Nick was already waiting in the hotel resteraunt for her. " Morning babe, " he greeted, embracing her in a hug when she walked up to him. Luci smiled. " I ordered us two ham and cheese omlets. I hope you don't mind, " Nick said after they both had sat down.
" Sounds good, " Luci replied.
" Is there something wrong? You aren't very talkative this morning, " Nick said.
Luci shook her head. " No I'm fine, it's just that... " her voice trailed off.
" It's just what, " Nick asked.
" I wish you didn't have leave, " Luci replied quietly, looking at the ground.
" I'll see ya again soon, I can promise you that. I'll call ya all the time so don't worry ok, " Nick said.
Luci nodded and smiled. " Ok, " she said.
" Here's the two ham and cheese omlets you ordered, " the waiter said placing a plate in front of Luci and one in front of Nick. " Enjoy. "
Later that morning...
" Management called while you were having breakfast. We have a concert next Saturday in Branson, " Brian said when Nick returned to him and Brian's room. Nick stopped walking and a big smile spread across his face.
" Are you serious, " Nick asked. He had the look of a very happy five year old who had just walked into the biggest candy store or toy store.
" Yeah I'm serious. Why so happy, " Brian laughed.
" No reason, " Nick replied and walked off to pack his things.
" Hurry up Lucinda, " Luci's mom said as she rushed her two sons to get ready.
" Almost done, " Luci yelled from inside the bathroom. She reached into the shower and grabbed two of the four remaining mini-bottles of Shampoo and conditioner that the hotel provides, and stuck them into her bag.
" Goodluck with Jive today Luci, " Howie said as him, Kevin, A.J and Brian climbed onto their tour bus.
" Thanks, " Luci replied and turned to Nick. " I'm going to miss you. "
" Yeah, I'm going to miss you to babe, " Nick said and they kissed.
" Ok break it up, break it up, " Brian said sticking his head out one of the bus windows.
" Leave them alone B-Rok, " A.J said pulling Brian back inside, causing him to hit his head.
" Time to go Lucinda, " Luci's mom called from their car.
Luci pulled a piece of paper out of her pocket. " Here's the number to my cell, " she said handing it to Nick.
" Here's mine, " Nick said handing her a piece of paper also.
" Lucinda NOW, " Luci's mom called again.
" I gotta go, " Luci said and turned around to walk away.
Nick grabbed her hand and pulled her close to him and gave her one last kiss. " See you real soon, I promise, " he said smiling and looking into her eyes. Luci ran off to her mom's car. Nick stood there watching as Luci's car drove off out of sight. He stuffed his hands into his pockets and got on the bus.
Later that evening...
It was around 5:15 when Luci got done with her shower. ' Shit! I'm going to be late for the meeting with Jive ' she thought to herself as she hurridly got dressed and ran out the door to her car. She put a cd into the cd player and drove off.
" Where is she? She has five minutes to get here, " Kirsty said pacing back and forth as they waited in the lobby room of their management office.
" She'll be here, trust me, " Ash said.
Luci rushed in through the doors. " Hey guys, sorry it took me so long, " she said.
" You need to step up your damn pace, " Amanda said angrily.
" Whoa, what's her problem, " Luci asked.
" Her and Jordan broke up last night. It turns out he was cheating on her. Long story, " Emma said.
A man in his late 40's, already showing grey hair, in a business suit walked through the double doors. " Are you guys ' In Motion ' , " he asked.
Being the speaker of the group, Ashley spoke up. " Yes we are, " she said.
" Alright. Follow me, " the man said motioning for the girls to come with him. He lead them down a long hallway and into a fairly big room that had a large rectangular wood table in the middle. The man sat down and placed some papers on the table. There was two other people in the room. Mr. Jackson and some woman in her mid-40's, who the girls had never seen before. The girls nervously all took a seat around the table. Each had different thoughts racing through their minds. ' I hope we get the deal. ' ' Is this going to be good news or bad news? ' ' Why the heck isn't anyone saying anything? ' ' Ok anytime now. ' ' Did we get the deal? '
" Thank-you for coming, " the woman started. " First off we would like to say that we have listened to your demo and we are very impressed, but you just aren't what we're looking for. "
" Excuse me, " Ash said, her mouth dropping open.
" I'm kidding, I'm kidding. Just a little Jive humor there, " the lady laughed. All girls had the look on their faces that said ' Not funny lady, not funny. '
" We have decided to sign you to Jive, " the man spoke up.
" Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god, " Kirsty said becoming overly excited.
" Kirst, calm down, " Emma laughed.
Ashley, Luci and Amanda were so excited, they didn't know what to say.
" If you all can just sign here on these contracts, ' In Motion ' will officially be on board with Jive, " the man said.
Ashley grabbed the contracts from the man and the girls looked over them before signing. Once they were done, Ashley handed them back.
" Welcome on board with Jive Ladies, " the man said.
Luci's cell rang. She fumbled for the phone as she reached into her coat pocket. " Hel...hello, " she said.
" Hey Babe, it's me. Am I interrupting anything, " Nick asked.
" No, you aren't. We got signed! Jive signed us, " Luci yelled. Everyone in the room stared at her.
" Congradulations! That is so PHAT, " Nick replied.
" Can I call you back, we're still in the meeting, " Luci said.
" Sure, I'll be waiting, " Nick replied with a smile. Even though Luci couldn't see it, he knew she sensed it.
" Bye, " Luci said and hung up.
" Who was that Luc, " Emma asked. Luci was in a sort of daze " Luci? "
" Oh...it was my boyfriend, " Luci replied smiling.
" Everythings set. We'll be seeing you later, " the woman said.
The girls all said their thanks and hurried out of the room.
" So, who's this boyfriend of yours, " Kirsty asked once they were outside and walking to their cars.
" Oh, you know him, " Luci answered. ' Maybe not in person but you know him ' she thought.
Next Saturday...
" Do any of you know who we're being the opening act for, " Amanda asked.
" Watch it be the Backstreet Boys, " Kirsty joked.
" Yeah, that would be so cool, " Emma said. Luci thought of Nick.
" Ok let's continue, " Ash said realizing that everyone was off track. " Left turn, step and kick, down... "
" Are you sure this is the right place, " A.J asked as him, Howie, Kevin, Brian and Nick walked into the concert hall.
" Yeah I'm sure, " Brian said.
" I take it that's our opening act, " Kevin said as they stood in the door way that led to where the stage was. ' In Motion ' was on stage rehearsing.
" C'mon guys. let's take the backstage way, " Nick said and took off running. The guys followed him. He pulled out his cell phone.
" Hello, " Luci said out of breath.
" Hey babe, whatcha up to, " Nick asked.
" Rehearsing for tonight's show, " Luci replied. " Is there something wrong with your phone? It's kind of echoing. "
" Turn around, " Nick said.
A weird look spread across Luci's face. She slowly turned around and screamed. " NICK! " she yelled.
Nick hugged her and gave her a kiss. " Surprise, " he said with a big smile.
" What are you doing here, " Luci asked.
" We have a concert here tonight and ' In Motion ' is our opening act, " Nick replied.
Ashley, Emma, Kirsty and Amanda all stopped dancing when they heard Luci scream. They turned around and were more surprised than Luci to see who was there.
" Luci...you're...together...Nick...oh my god, " Emma stuttered. A.J, Brian, Howie and Kevin walked onto stage.
" OH MY GOD, " Ash said a little more loudly then she expected to when she saw Brian.
" Hey, how y'all doing, " Brian asked, his accent sounding.
" Ok Ash, your turn to do your warm up song, " Kirsty said after everyone had stood around for a while talking. Ashley was looking at Brian and he was looking back at Ashley. " Ash did you hear me? " Kirsty walked over to Ashley and waved a hand on front of her face. " Yo Ash, you're up. "
Ashley shook her head and snapped out of her daze she was in. " Oh, sorry Kirst. Didn't hear ya, " she said with a slight laugh. Ashley then walked out onto center stage. The music for " lay Down Beside Me " began to play and Ashley began to sing.
" Hey, that's my song, " A.J blurted out.
" She's an A.J fan huh, " Nick asked Luci as they watched Ashley practice. He had not been paying attention to how Brian and Ash were acting earlier.
" No, she likes A.J, but she's a huge Brian. She likes singing ' Lay Down Beside Me ' as a warm up song. She says it gets her into the feeling or mood, or something like that, " Luci replied.
" Ohhh... " Nick said. He put his arms around Luci's waist and layed his head on her shoulder.
" Damn, she's almost as good as me on that song, " A.J laughed, amazed at how well Ashley was doing.
Later that night...
It was almost time for In Motion to go on stage. They huddled together with bsB and did a group prayer.
" Good luck , " Brian said to Ashley.
" Good luck to you too, " Ash replied as she recieved a hug from him.
" Let's go, " Luci said taking a deep breath.
Ashley entered on to stage first, followed by Luci, Amanda, Kirsty & Emma.
" Just one last time... " Ash sang at the end of their last song.
" Thanks you! You've been a wonderful crowd, " Luci yelled.
" Thanks you, " Emma and Amanda yelled in unison.
" Good bye and good night, " Kirsty yelled and they all exited off stage.
The beginning of " Larger Than Life " began to play. Lights started flashing and the crowd went wild.
After the concert...
Everyone was chilling and relaxing in the dressing room. Ashley and Brian were flirting at one end of the dressing room couch, a few kisses every now and then. Luci and Nick were busy talking between themselves and kissing at the other end. Kirsty and A.J were in an in depth conversation about hats, when A.J pulled Kirsty close to him and began kissing her. Howie and Emma were talking together with Kevin and Amanda just sort of sat by herself. She seemed like she was in a pissed off mood. She wasn't quite over Jordan.
" Go talk to her Kev, " Howie said. Both him and Emma could tell Kevin liked Amanda.
" Man I don't know, " Kevin replied staring over in Amanda's direction. " I like her, but I don't think she likes me. "
" You won't know unless you go and talk to her, " Emma said. Kevin stood there for a minute trying to decide on wether or not he would go and talk to her. Emma gave him a little playful push and Kevin walked over to Amanda.
" I was NOT crying the whole time while they were singing ' Show Me the Meaning Of Being Lonely ' Luc, " Ash protested when Luci brought it up. Brian let out a laugh. " Are you laughing at me? "
" Uh...no, " Brian replied with a smirk on his face.
" Anyways, you started bawling Luci, when Nick sang his part, so you have no room to talk, " Ash said. Luci stuck her tounge out at Ash.
" Uh...hey, you're Amanda right, " Kevin asked walking over to her.
" Yeah, " Amanda replied shortly.
" Good job tonight, " Kevin said trying to make conversation but it didn't really seem like Amanda was willing to.
" Thanks, " Amanda replied.
